A Woman’s Duty is to Bring Forth Spirit Babies
Journal of Discourses 4:56; “Do you understand this? I have told you many times that there are multitudes of pure and holy spirits waiting to take tabernacles, now what is our duty?—to prepare tabernacles for them; to take a course that will not tend to drive those spirits into the families of the wicked, where they will be trained in wickedness, debauchery, and every species of crime. It is the duty of every righteous man and woman to prepare tabernacles for all the spirits they can; hence if my women leave, I will go and search up others who will abide the celestial law…This is the reason why the doctrine of plurality of wives was revealed, that the noble spirits which are waiting for tabernacles might be brought forth.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, September 21, 1856
John 6:28-29; “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”
Once again it’s sex over worshipping the God of the Bible. This causes a lot of confusion and misery for every single Mormon woman. At the end of my 30 years in Mormonism I was praying God would just send me to hell over having to be pregnant eternally.
It’s a dilemma when scripture continually clashes with the teachings of the Church.
I know you are taking this from a female perspective, but you must realize that this is not just a woman’s duty, but also a mans.
And no, sex is not being placed over the worship of God. This is really twisting the meaning of things.
Now, as to clashing with the Bible, I see nothing of the kind. The work of God is to believe on Christ, but one cannot believe on Christ without believing and following his words, including these
Matthew 19: 4-5 “And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall acleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?”
It seems that Christ put a great emphasis on the marriage relationship.
Going on the Bible we can also take the very first command given to Adam and Eve to “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth” as a direct command to have sex.
So again, I fail to see a clash in doctrine, and thus no dilemma.
