Archive for July, 2011

As we begin our week next week Life After Ministries will be paying close attention to the trial going on in Texas against Warren Jeffs, the prophet of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

We’re asking our fellow Christian readers to come alongside us in prayer for those caught in the ugliness of this cult and prayer for the judge, the jury and those who’ve volunteered to take care of the children during the raid.

Most of the kids are back with their parents in the compound but precious light and truth was shared with them while out of the custody of this cult.  Pray this will speak to them in their lives.  We’ll be giving updates to the trial so continue to come back and don’t forget to pray!

With Love in Christ, Michelle Grim

Joseph Smith becomes a Mason

History of the Church 4:550-551;Tuesday, 15.—I officiated as grand chaplain at the installation of the Nauvoo Lodge of Free Masons, at the Grove near the Temple. Grand Master Jonas, of Columbus, being present, a large number of people assembled on the occasion. The day was exceedingly fine; all things were done in order, and universal satisfaction was manifested. In the evening I received the first degree in Free Masonry in the Nauvoo Lodge, assembled in my general business office.

I didn’t join the Mormon church, I was born into it. It was the only religion that I had ever known… I thankfully found out that Jesus can free you from the bondage and stranglehold of the LDS religion. If He can speak everything into existence, He can change hearts and lives with no problem!

Mormons Should be Involved with Masonic Lodge

Evidences and Reconciliations, pg. 357-358; Many of the Saints were Masons, such as Joseph’s brother Hyrum, Heber C. Kimball, Elijah Fordham, Newel K. Whitney, James Adams, and John C. Bennett. These members called attention to the spirit of brotherhood and brotherly love which are the foundations of Masonic fraternity… The people of the Church needed friends. The work in Nauvoo would be hindered if opposition to the Church were allowed to grow. The Prophet and his brethren and sisters of the Church had suffered much without cause. They wanted peace. Perhaps Masonry would help. So, in the light of history, ran the thoughts of the people.” – John Widtsoe

To Each Her Own

1 Corinthians 7:2; Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

The first polygamous union was from the cursed line of Cain – Genisis 4:17-19.

Joseph Smith a member of the Masonic Lodge

Encyclopedia of Mormonism, pg. 1018; For a time Nauvoo was a community almost unto itself. Its singular status, the inclusive character of its life patterns, and the extension of the religious vision into all aspects of culture were stabilized by a strong self-sufficient charter and even a militia, the Nauvoo Legion. Many visitors came to view the new city, and efforts to promote cultural and intellectual exchange increased. Joseph Smith and about 1,500 other Church members joined the Masonic lodges in Nauvoo and nearby Keokuk and Montrose to promote fraternal relations (see –>Freemasonry in Nauvoo).

Changes and Problems with the Book of Mormon

There have been numerous changes made since the inception of the Book of Mormon, at last count there were over 4,000. Our focus isn’t on each and every one of those changes, but we will be taking a close look at a few of them.  Many other good people have written extensively on this subject and if you’re interested in researching all of the changes a good place to begin would be Ed Decker at Saints Alive, Bill Mckeever, Michael Marquardt, Utah Lighthouse Ministries, et al.

TRACY

I grew up in a wonderful home—an only child until age ten; raised lovingly by my mother, aunt, and maternal grandparents. I was precocious, spoiled, and curious about the world around me. My mother had me baptized in a Methodist Church when I was four, but we only attended for a couple of months. My mother, aunt, and grandparents provided for my every need and taught me the values of integrity and respect for authority. Because I had very little formal religious training, I was left to my own devices on how to find spiritual truth.

JENN

I was born and raised a Utah Mormon. I was blessed with wonderful parents who loved me very much. I have many good childhood memories with them and my siblings.  My family was very active in the LDS Church and I was taught it was the only true Church on the Earth. I was taught that although other religions had ‘some truth’ to them, they were still all wrong.

Melissa 2

This beautiful woman has chosen to not use her last name.

I was born and raised in the Mormon Church. Baptized in Arizona, and finally left the church while living in Utah. I noticed subtle difference in the strict structure and lack of individuality between the Utah Mormons and Arizona Mormons.

MY TESTIMONY

I was raised in a Christian home despite the fact they we didn’t go to church often. My dad thought that you didn’t need to go to church all of the time to worship God. My siblings and I were taught the importance of prayer and of reading the Bible. Sadly, I never really studied the Bible. As I got older I began working and wasn’t able to attend church as I should have. Yet I still had a prayerful relationship with God and went to him for help and guidance all the time.

MY JOURNEY OUT OF MORMONISM AND INTO THE ARMS OF THE TRUE JESUS

“You’re playing with fire”, the voice inside my head said. I had just sat down in a Mormon ward for the first time in 21 years. I ignored the warning voice and the service began. How could a Christian woman who had spent the last 20+ years of her life studying the errors of Mormonism come back to what she knew was wrong? Let’s start at the beginning…

Blacks are Inferior

Race Problems–As They Affect the Church, August 27, 1954, address at CES convention at Brigham Young University; Think of the Negro, cursed as to the Priesthood.  Are we prejudiced against him? Unjustly, sometimes we are accused of having such a prejudice. But what does the mercy of God have for him? This negro, who, in the pre-existence lived the type of life which justified the Lord in sending him to the earth in the lineage of Cain with a black skin, and possibly being born in darkest Africa if that Negro is willing when he hears the gospel to accept it, he may have many of the blessings of the gospel. In spite of all he did in the pre-existent life, the Lord is willing, if the Negro accepts the gospel with real, sincere faith, and is really converted, to give him the blessings of baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost. If that Negro is faithful all his days, he can and will enter the celestial kingdom. He will go there as a servant, but he will get a celestial resurrection.” – Mark E. Petersen

LOL,
I love your lies. I guess when you hear from someone who heard from another that’s the lies you come up with. Keep up the pathetic work. Just one question, why do people like yourselves waste so much of your time and energy trying to tear a people down? Are you not happy in life? Maybe you need to find Christ in your life. I am a member of the LDS church and I don’t know any members that don’t believe in Christ. Where do you get your info? And the lies about the temple, lol WOW!!!

Man’s Sinful Nature

“Since there is no such thing as original sin, as that expression is used in modern Christendom, it follows that children are not conceived in sin. They do not come into the world with any taint of impurity whatever.” – Bruce R. McConkie (April 1977 Ensign)

Heaven’s Gatekeeper

Journal of Discourses 7:289; …no man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith. From the day that the Priesthood was taken from the earth to the winding-up scene of all things, every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, junior, as a passport to their entrance into the mansion where God and Christ are—I with you and you with me. I cannot go there without his consent. He holds the keys of that kingdom for the last dispensation—the keys to rule in the spirit-world; and he rules there triumphantly…” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, October 9, 1859
