LDS Church Growth
In today’s Mormon dilemma we’re taking a look at the LDS Church’s growth rate and their claim of having more than 14 million members.
Whenever I do research on statistical info about the Church I refuse to only go to one source for my articles. Long ago I was a wanna-be journalist and can remember in high school and college my professors and teachers always pounding this into our heads; if you’re only presenting one side then you’re not presenting truth.

Church Stands or Falls with Joseph Smith
Doctrines of Salvation 1:188; “Mormonism as it is called must stand or fall on the story of Joseph Smith. He was either a prophet of God…or he was one of the biggest fraud this world has ever seen.
If Joseph Smith was a deceiver, who willfully attempted to mislead the people, then he should be exposed; his claims should be refuted, and his doctrines shown to be false…If his claims and declarations were built upon fraud and deceit, there would appear many errors and contradictions which would be easy to detect.”

Saviors on Mount Zion
Teachings of the Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith, Chapter 41: pg. 468-478; “We become saviors on Mount Zion by performing sacred ordinances for the dead… “But how are they to become saviors on Mount Zion? By building their temples, erecting their baptismal fonts, and going forth and receiving all the ordinances, baptisms, confirmations, washings, anointings, ordinations and sealing powers upon their heads, in behalf of all their progenitors who are dead, and redeem them that they may come forth in the first resurrection and be exalted to thrones of glory with them.”

March 29 –Eph. 4:11-14 shows us how the body of Christ operates. It says; “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children being tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive”.

Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg 347; “…the first principles of consolation…
What is it? To inherit the same power, the same glory and the same exaltation, until you arrive at the station of a God…the same as those who have gone before…My Father worked out his kingdom with fear and trembling…when I get my kingdom, I shall present it to my Father, so that he may obtain kingdom upon kingdom, and it will exalt him in glory. He will then take a higher exaltation, and I will take his place, and thereby become exalted myself.”

False Prophets
The Evening and the Morning Star, Vol. II, No. 14, pg. 105; “The only way of ascertaining a true prophet, is to compare his prophecies with the ancient word of God, and see if they agree, and if they do and come to pass, then certainly he is a true prophet: For it is not possible that the Lord will suffer FALSE prophets, to bring forth the truth, moved upon by the Holy Ghost, for it is written that the Holy Ghost dwelleth not in unholy temples. By their fruits shall they be known. When, therefore any man, no matter who, or how high his standing may be, utters, or publishes, any thing that afterwards proves to be untrue, he is a false prophet.”

March 28 – In 1 Cor. 1:10 Paul says; “Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”.

Today (3/26/12) I traveled over to the LDS website and found a very sad state of affairs. http://www.lds.org/?lang=eng The front page of their site says;
“The Savior Suffers in Gethsemane”
You’re going to see a video of a white Mormon Jesus with a British accent going to the Garden, kneeling down and praying the words from the Bible. At some point he starts sniffling while they show the disciples sleeping and Jesus walking over to ask them why they can’t stay awake. I find it interesting the Church thinks the Bible has been mistranslated yet they use the very words from it…hmmm….

Book of Mormon Translated Correctly
Journal of Discourses 2:293-294; “Before this was offered to the world, the Lord confirmed it by opening the heavens in broad day light, and sending down an holy angel, who descended in the presence of four individuals, three besides Mr. Smith, and the angel took the plates, and turned them over leaf after leaf, while, at the same time, the voice of the Lord out of the heavens told them it had been translated correctly, commanding them to send forth their testimony to all nations, kingdoms, tongues, and people.” – Orson Pratt, Salt Lake City, January 7, 1855

March 27 – Judges 16:30 tells us about the final act of Samson’s strength the Lord God had supplied him with; there is no question that no one lived as Samson did. It says; “And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life”.

Death to Apostates
Romans 3:10-19; “10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 And the way of peace have they not known:
18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.
19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.”
Today’s Mormon Dilemma is part of a speech given by the future Mormon prophet Jedidiah Morgan Grant. The rebuke he gave to members was harsh as you’ll see here and served as the beginning of the “Mormon Reformation”. The Church had encountered a fair amount of opposition to the leaders and the penalty was stiff – your life.

Javelin Through the Heart; Really?!?

Holy Week: Do you know what it means?
I can’t believe Easter is just around the corner! Spring is my favorite time of year for a few reasons; but ultimately it reminds me of the new life I have in Christ.
Because of what Jesus has done for all of us, we can start anew. Just as spring is a new beginning to the world around us, we can have a new beginning in our lives when we ask Jesus into our hearts.

The Final Week of Jesus & the Final Week of Joseph Smith

Luke 22:54-23:33 is the focus of this article and for the sake of space we ask that you open your own Bibles to read along as we point out the significant events that took place in Jesus’ last few days of life here on earth.
At the time of this writing it is December 2005. During this great season of looking to God who gave us His Son, we are also striving to keep the LDS Church’s focus placed in the right direction.
