The Changing god of Mormonism
The Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball, p. 438;“Now, my brothers sisters, as you read of troubles in so many parts of the world, remember that the Lord knew these problems would come, and that even with these problems he has foreseen the growth of this Church and its people. Be of good cheer, for the Lord is guiding his Church.”
Hebrews 13:5; “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
It would be difficult at best to be cheerful following the god of Mormonism. Following that god entails a fair amount of trust in yourself to hold on and come up with a back-up plan in case things dramatically change as they’ve done in the past.
What do you suppose the early Mormons thought when it suddenly became illegal to have more than one wife? What were the inner thoughts and feelings of the children whose fathers were running from the law and hiding in the basements of their homes? Where is any comfort in such things?
If this church really was from God wouldn’t He have made provision ahead of time for members of the Church to be prepared before judgment on polygamy fell in America? Families like mine when polygamy became illegal were suddenly on the wrong side of the law and certainly they’d never intended to be in such a compromising position before that time.
Where is God then?
The Bible gives us strong pictures of what it meant to always be faithful when following God. From Noah to the disciples we see a consistency with how God operates even when men change their minds and the laws of the land. The one thing that remains constant is Him.
When the Mormon god changes his mind to whom do you turn to for comfort?
Where was God when it became illegal to be a Christian in ancient Rome? Who did they turn to then? Your reasoning is just a good as this.
Marvin –
The One True God of the Bible NEVER changed His covenants with man. When did He ever tell the Israelites or Christians it was an everlasting covenant to practice something and then when a government said people couldn’t do that God said ‘oh that’s okay you’ll do that in heaven someday’?
According to D&C it’s still mandated by the Mormon god to practice polygamy else suffer the consequences of damnation. D&C 132:4…
The Mormon god tells people that his directives will not go unfulfilled (Moses 4:30). As of April 1904 this became a false prophecy because that’s when the Church finally stopped the active practice of marrying more than one person at a time.
And according to Moses 7:8, 22 the blacks are cursed. As of June 1, 1978 they were suddenly acceptable to God. Why is that?
The only plausible explanation of course is the Mormon god changed his mind on the meaning of “forever”.
Where in the Bible do we ever see God changing the skin color of a people group?
Do people still “despise” black people today, specifically the Mormon god and/or LDS Church?
The only people who’ve despised others for their skin color whether white, black, brown or whatever, are those who are racist. We see many examples of that throughout the world, but never with God. Why would He hate someone because of their skin color when in fact He created them that color on purpose?
Keep in mind it’s not the Mormon people I’m bashing. I know it’s hard to separate that when you’re LDS. I am questioning teachings of the Church. When compared to the Bible, the Church’s doctrines are opposed to what God has always taught and commanded. The truth is that God loves the Mormon people deeply and wants to be in a covenant relationship with each. The leaders of the Church have historically tricked its people into believing the God of the Bible doesn’t exist.
Know that we’re praying for you Marvin and hope to hear back from you.
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
