2 Nephi 31:7; “Know ye not that he was holy? But notwithstanding he being holy, he showeth unto the children of men that, according to the flesh he humbleth himself before the Father, and witnesseth unto the Father that he would be obedient unto him in keeping his commandments.”
Matthew 3:13-15; “Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.”
How could the Nephites follow Jesus’ example of baptism 500+ yrs before He was even born?
These are the things that frustrate me with Mormonism. People like my mother will read this and get a feel good moment from Joseph Smith’s false stories. She and untold numbers of other faithful members won’t question the historicity or plausibility in these claims.
Then whenever I do ask what she thinks of things like this happening before Jesus was born she gets angry with me for pointing out the discrepancies. Sigh…
You see, there’s no doubt in my mind that she and many others in the Church love Jesus. I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t think as much. But oh, how Satan has tricked them!
Sharing the good news and then leaving them to ponder upon what He has said is greater than a thousand words of trying to prove you’re right. Therefore, we pray!
