New Era, ‘What the Christmas Story Can Teach Us,’ December 2015;
Today we’re looking at an article in the New Era, a monthly publication written to ‘enlighten and educate’ LDS youth.
In this article there were several quotes given by past LDS prophets describing who Jesus is, and to say they were outrageous would be the understatement of the year! The first quote wasn’t attached to any specific person, but we thought it was highly important to point this one out because of how wrong it is.
“The birth of Jesus Christ, one of the most miraculous events in history, took place in a humble stable.”
Why isn’t the birth of Jesus the most miraculous event in history?
What else is there since the creation of man could be of more import than this?
This statement undermines the truth about everything there is to do with Jesus, and what God has done for us.
God’s prophets foretell sacred events.
“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14).
As we’ve noted in numerous articles in the past, and as you’ll see in this one too, Mormons don’t believe Jesus is Immanuel! Immanuel means ‘God is with us’.
What Mormon do you know that believes Jesus is God?
The Christmas Story
“The story of Christmas is a story of love. We heard the story first before the world was created. Heavenly Father told us of His plan of happiness for all of us, His beloved children. …
President Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor in the First Presidency, “Christmas Stories,” 2009 Christmas Devotional, lds.org/broadcasts
This is a lie. No one lived in heaven with God before the creation of the earth. 1 Cor. 15:44-47
Though the Savior’s mother was mortal, He was born with the divine nature of His Heavenly Father. …
“Our Savior was a God before he was born into this world, and he brought with him that same status when he came here. He was as much a God when he was born into the world as he was before. But as far as this life is concerned it appears that he had to start just as all other children do and gain his knowledge line upon line” (President Joseph Fielding Smith [1876–1972], Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Fielding Smith [2013], 314).” [emp. mine]
1.This quote by Mr. Joseph Fielding Smith is why the statement about Jesus being Immanuel is a lie.
2.How was Jesus a god before he came here if you need to have kids, wives, and your own planet to become a god?
3.Again, the Church has alluded to their belief that God had sex with Mary by making the statement they did about Jesus’ ‘parents’. See ‘What do Mormons Think of the Virgin Mary?’
Mortal and Divine
“He was the one perfect man to walk the earth. … His mother was mortal, and from her came an inheritance of the flesh. His Father was immortal, the Great God of the Universe, through whom came His divine nature.”
President Gordon B. Hinckley (1910–2008), “At the Summit of Ages,” Ensign, Nov. 1999, 73.
Here’s another example of how they push their ungodly doctrine in a concealed and sneaky way. They’re obsessed with using doctrines like this, while at the same time wanting to be known as Christians.
You can’t have it both ways. The belief that a god came down and had sex with Mary isn’t biblical!
Their article is a great witnessing tool for Christians to use! Don’t forget, when you use their own documents, and especially something that’s up to date as this one is, it gives the Mormon something tangible to think about, and puts it in the here and now.
They can’t argue it came from prophets long ago, and has nothing to do with them today.
I read your postings in the hope that someday my still-believing daughter and I can talk about the lie. Thank you!
Oh Sandra! I wanted to be sure you know we’ve been praying for you dear one! I’ve had my hands full with family the past few days, but have read the comments and have been praying for you! If there’s anything we can do, don’t hesitate to let us know!
Would love to hear how and why you left Mormonism so let us know!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
