November 16 – Acts 3:22-23; “For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.”

September 20 – John 7:14-17; “Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.”

The story of Moroni goes hand in hand with anything to do with Joseph Smith. If there’s no Moroni, there’s no restoration of the gospel and no first vision. Ahh, but the story of the first vision includes the lesser known version that Nephi, not Moroni, showed up to tell Joseph about the restoration.
Moroni the Fulfillment of Scripture?
Revelation 14:6; “And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people.”
How could Moroni be the fulfillment of a future event about the tribulation in 1830?

Thought of the Day about Mormonism and Facebook
Today Melissa sent me an e-mail with the picture that’s at the end of this article. She found it on the LDS’ Facebook page under other miscellaneous photos they provided for members to attach to their FB pages.
Melissa was telling me the first thing she thought of was how she couldn’t get the words “obey” and “law” out of her head. She said they make it sound like God is some sort of dictator and I couldn’t agree more!

Testing Angels’ Handshakes
2 Corinthians 11:13-14; “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”
This has to be one of the most insidious “revelations” ever made.
What if I went up to you saying I’m an angel and shook your hand?
I’d pass the test every time.
First Vision According to John Taylor
Journal of Discourses 10:130-131; “How did this state of things called Mormonism originate? We read that an angel came down and revealed himself to Joseph Smith and manifested unto him in vision the true position of the world in a religious point of view. He was surrounded with light and glory while the heavenly messenger communicated these things unto him, after a series of visitations and communications from the Apostle Peter and others who held the authority of the holy Priesthood, not only on the earth formerly but in the heavens afterwards.” – John Taylor, Salt Lake City, March 1, 1863
Psalm 119:89; “For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.”

Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg 162; “…An angel of God never has wings. Some will say that they have seen a spirit; that he offered them his hand, but they did not touch it. This is a lie. First, it is contrary to the plan of God; a spirit cannot come but in glory; an angel has flesh and bones; we see not their glory. The devil may appear as an angel of light. Ask God to reveal it; if it be of the devil, he will flee from you; if of God, He will manifest Himself, or make it manifest. We may come to Jesus and ask Him; He will know all about it; if He comes to a little child, he will adapt himself to the language and capacity of a little child.”
Isaiah 6:1-2; “In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. 2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.”
Nameless Brother of Jared Sees Jesus 700 years Before Moses Sees God
The Improvement Era, Vol. 13, No. 1, November 1909, pg 78; “More than seven hundred years before Moses was shown the things pertaining to this earth, another great prophet, known to us as the brother of Jared, was similarly favored by the Lord. He was even permitted to behold the spirit-body of the foreordained Savior, prior to His incarnation; and so like the body of a man was His spirit in form and appearance, that the prophet thought he was gazing upon a being of flesh and blood. He first saw the finger and then the entire body of the Lord— all in the spirit.”
