Jesus’ Promises Kept
I’m here today to let everyone know how intoxicated I am by being around those in the body of Christ. I admit that I look at the church of Jesus Christ through rose colored glasses. And I’ll be the first to admit that when I think of the Christian people it’s easy for me to overlook the flaws each denomination and individual person really has. I am more inclined to treat them in the same manner a parent has for a favorite child.

March 6 –The first time the followers of Jesus were called Christians is recorded in Acts 11:26b; “And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.”
Sometimes as a Mormon, it’s difficult to keep things simple. Show them from the Bible that nowhere in the Old Testament is the word “Christian” ever mentioned.
In Alma 46:16 we read the prophet Moroni was praying in 76 BC. “And therefore, at this time, Moroni prayed that the cause of the Christians and the freedom of the land might be favored”.

People tell me all the time that Mormons are some of the nicest people they’ve ever met. I would agree with that up to a point. They’re very nice up until you disagree with their theology, then all bets are off and the gloves come on.
I still cringe whenever I think back to my life before the Lord saved me. I had the warmth of a buzz saw. I was in a bad mood 24/7 and no matter what I said outwardly, my thoughts were always filled with judgmental animosity for those who didn’t agree with me at any given time.
My grandfather used to tell us kids to “quit being ugly” and he wasn’t referring to the way we were dressed or the funky hair styles we loved back in the eighties. At the time I could never understand what he meant…hmmm…nowadays I am still dealing with the buzz saw personalities, but it’s through the e-mails I receive from those who are active LDS. Here are a few examples of what we see from many e-mails we receive every day.
I would like to know where you get your information from on the LDS religion. All you have stated is a bunch of lies. You should be a shame of yourself and take down your web site. We believe God is Our Heavenly Father and Christ (Jesus) is his son and through him all can return to spend eternity with Our Heavenly Father as long as we keep his commandments and live right just.
Wow do you suck bad. Please visit my blog to deal with your suckiness:
Hey holy rollers, is it time for you to be audited for the illegal donations you accept from other ged holders. Get a life. You are the biggest frauds out there
Thank you for your opinion on the McConkie quote. I would like to help you understand it better by saying that McConkie is simply, very simply in fact, stating that true Christians, who actually understand the Bible, do not put Jesus above His Father. Perhaps if you read the speech again, asking for the spirit to be with you as you do so, you will be able to see it. Unfortunately there are many out there so eager to discredit Mormonism that they take a small paragraph out of a large document and use just that to tear down a belief. To those who have a broader mind you come across as a biggot and very dense. If your beliefs are indeed the way to exaltation then why not promote those instead of criticizing something you have no idea what you are talking about. Have a nice day. – Molly
The Lord is reminding me of what He saved me from when I correspond with the Mormons and I pray they find the peace in Jesus I found in the spring of ’93. Not only did my demeanor change, but my entire outlook on life changed as well.
The day I got saved I recall the Lord pressing me to go back to the altar to repent for all the years I hated His people, the body of Christ. I enjoyed being in their presence whenever I met a Christian, but inwardly I felt superior because “I was a Mormon”, a “true Christian”. I didn’t trust the Bible and held a fair amount of skepticism in my heart towards anyone claiming to be a Christian; or a “Jesus freak” as I referred to them.
Inside I had always felt they couldn’t be a real Christian because their church didn’t have the name of Jesus in its title.
It’s obviously easy to see that if you’re taught this from birth the hatred and animosity runs deep.
The rest of this article comes from an excerpt of our mentoring handbook and the chart is from the classes I teach on Mormonism vs. Christianity. My prayer is that the Mormon will see the truth in what we’ve presented here and come to know the real Jesus of the Bible! Hopefully, it’ll also prove to be a valuable tool for those wanting further insight about the Mormon people.
Discarding the hatred for non-Mormons
From its inception the LDS Church and members’ attitude towards the non-Mormon has been filled with hatred. I’ve never found a word that could fully articulate the level of hatred and animosity I held towards anyone who wasn’t as good as I was being a Mormon.
I suppose the best description I could give for the reader is to think about the radical Muslims in the Middle East and their hatred towards you; the westerner. The only difference between the Muslim and the Mormon is the lack of violence the latter employs today towards the “infidel”.
It must be understood that only a century ago the LDS Church held strongly to the beliefs of “blood atonement”, which they never hesitated to engage when and where needed.
While the practice of avenging the Church was done away with dozens of years ago; animosity and resentment towards anyone working against the Church are still in their hearts as they tutor the next generation.
It’s also important to understand the air of superiority Mormons carry around with them. For the ex-Mormon to truly be set free they must claim the blood of Jesus upon themselves and ask God to forgive them for this grievous sin of hating His people. The Mormon truly believes their blood is Jewish blood; for they are the “true Jews”. Brigham Young’s statement is found in the Journal of Discourses, 2:269;
“Again, if a pure Gentile firmly believes the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and yields obedience to it, in such a case I will give you the words of the Prophet Joseph—“When the Lord pours out the Holy Ghost upon that individual he will have spasms, and you would think that he was going into fits.” Joseph said that the Gentile blood was actually cleansed out of their veins, and the blood of Jacob made to circulate in them; and the revolution and change in the system were so great that it caused the beholder to think they were going into fits.”
It’s no surprise the Biblical view of this is non-existent. God says nothing of the sort about blood being changed at the moment of conversion. However, we have a true gem of a passage when the apostle John gave us the test of who our brothers are in Christ. It is very telling and clearly shows how the Mormon is exempt from being a true Christian. 1 John 2:9-11;
“He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.”
The Book of Mormon is abundantly clear about their feelings towards the body of Christ. It is peppered with their utter disdain towards the true Christian church throughout its text and for the sake of brevity I am only listing one example. 1 Nephi 14:10;
“And he said unto me: Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the church of the Lamb of God, and the other is the church of the devil; wherefore, whoso belongeth not to the church of the Lamb of God belongeth to that great church, which is the mother of abominations; and she is the whore of all the earth.”
Sadly, the Mormon will usually go their entire life believing this lie! Believing this lie is what kept me in the Church for thirty years. I had done many things that weren’t holy, but I certainly didn’t want to be a whore in addition to everything else.
With Love in Christ;
1 Cor. 1:18

|1 John 2:9; “He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.”||Mormon Doctrine, pg. 132; “…CHRIST, CHRISTIANS, DISPENSATIONS. Christianity is the religion of the Christians. Hence, true and acceptaable Christianity is found among the saints who have the fulness of the gospel, and a perverted Christianity holds sway among the so-called Christians of apostate Christendom. In these circles it is believed and taught that Christianity had its beginning with the mortal ministry of our Lord. Actually, of course, Adam was the first Christian…”|

The eggs were laid in hell, hatched on its borders, and then kicked on to the earth.” – Brigham Young|
|John 14:16-18; “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”||Orson Pratt, JD 14:346; “This class of men, calling themselves Christian, uniting with the various forms of the pagan religion, adopting many of their ceremonies and institutions, became very popular, and finally some of the pagans embraced Christianity and were placed, as it were, upon the throne, and what they termed Christianity became very popular indeed. How long has this order of things existed, this dreadful apostacy, this class of people that pronounced themselves Zion, or Christians, without any of the characteristics of Zion? It has existed for some sixteen or seventeen centuries.” – Salt Lake City, March 10, 1872|
|Acts 5:41-42; “And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. 42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.”||John Taylor, Journal of Discourses 6:167; “There is not nation now that acknowledges that hand of God; there is not a king, potentate, nor ruler that acknowledges his jurisdiction. We talk about Christianity, but it is a perfect pack of nonsense. Men talk about civilization; but I do not want to say much about that, for I have seen enough of it. Myself and hundreds of the Elders around me have seen its pomp, parade, and glory; and what is it? It is a sounding brass and a tinkling symbol; it is as corrupt as hell; and the Devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work that the Christianity of the nineteenth century.”|
|1 John 3:14-15; “We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.”||Encyclopedia of Mormonism, pg. 270; “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not see itself as one Christian denomination among many, but rather as God’s latter-day restoration of the fulness of Christian faith and practice…Other forms of Christianity…are viewed as incomplete, lacking the authority of the priesthood of God, the temple ordinances, the comprehensive understanding of the Plan of Salvation, and the nonparadoxical understanding of the Godhead.”|
|Jude 1:4; “For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.”||Teachings of Lorenzo Snow, pg. 16; “Mormonism has acted as a leaven upon other religious faiths. Consciously or unconsciously they have absorbed and utilized it. This is especially manifest in the growth of liberal ideas among the Protestant churches within the last half century. (2 January 1902, MS, 64:22.)”|
|Mark 13:13; “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”||George Q. They were known respectively as the Church of the Lamb of God and Babylon. The various organizations which are called churches throughout Christendom, though differing in their creeds and organizations, have one common origin. They all belong to Babylon.”|
