Plan of Salvation
“In the premortal existence, Heavenly Father prepared a plan to enable us to become like Him and receive a fulness of joy. The scriptures refer to this plan as “the plan of salvation” (Alma 24:14; Moses 6:62), “the great plan of happiness” (Alma 42:8), “the plan of redemption” (Jacob 6:8; Alma 12:30), and “the plan of mercy” (Alma 42:15). The plan of salvation is the fulness of the gospel. It includes the Creation, the Fall, the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and all the laws, ordinances, and doctrines of the gospel. Moral agency, the ability to choose and act for ourselves, is also essential in Heavenly Father’s plan. Because of this plan, we can be perfected through the Atonement, receive a fulness of joy, and live forever in the presence of God. Our family relationships can last throughout the eternities.” – http://www.lds.org/study/topics/plan-of-salvation?lang=eng

Who was Adam in the pre-existence?
Doctrines of Salvation 1:90; “The first man placed upon the earth was a perfect being, a son of God. He was Michael, the Archangel, who had reached great distinction and power before he ever came to this earth; and who helped to frame this earth while he was yet a spirit, just as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was a spirit before he was born in Bethlehem. Michael, after being placed upon this earth, is known as Adam.”

Are men born into sin?
Mosiah 3:19 says yes; “For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.”

Was Mankind Born Perfect or Sinful?
If you’ve ever been a Mormon there was probably a time in your life when your sacred canon caused you some confusion. I’ve spoken to countless people both active and ex-Mormon who have experienced just this thing.
For me it was the day I was baptized at the age of eight. I was being baptized for the remission of sins, but up until that time I had been taught I was born perfect and couldn’t sin.
Their contradictory teaching on this subject is worth exploring and worthy of asking the Mormon in your life what they think of this.

May 16 – Gen. 1:17-9; “And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorn also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken; for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”

Adam and Eve’s Sin and the New Mormon Website
In my daily LDS Gems e-mails I received notice today (February 26, 2008) of another new website launched by the Church. Here in part is what it said;
“The new site is a helpful resource for anyone who wishes to know firsthand what Latter-day Saints believe about Jesus Christ. It is also a valuable reference that Church members can use as they share their beliefs with others.”

April 27 – Romans 3:23; “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”.
_____
God has told us throughout scripture that man’s heart is deceitful and desperately wicked, so even though that little toddler in the house looks really cute, beware because behind the cuteness, lies a wealth of selfishness! They want you to themselves and in their minds they are the only one who is worthy of the blocks and dolls in the toy box. Just imagine how convoluted our hearts become with age. This is why it’s so important to always follow God by studying His word and have our minds upon Him.

March 13 – Gen. 3:24; “So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubim’s, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life”.
_____
Next to John 3:16, the Genesis scripture should be at the forefront of every believer’s mind. Man was separated from God, thus the need for John 3:16. It was not God’s intention for this to happen. He knew it would happen, but it doesn’t mean that He willed it to happen. The Mormon believes man had to sin in order to know joy, sadness and to even procreate. They believe this sin commandment came from God.

_____
We have been born into sin (John 9:34) and have need for a Savior who can cleanse us from ourselves! The Mormons do not believe they have been born under the sin of Adam, (2nd Article of Faith: “We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression”.). They say that man has their own free will to sin or not, yet their own scripture would deny this claim.

February 24 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. Romans 3:23.
_____
Not one Mormon believes that children can sin. They baptize at the age of eight to be cleansed from their sins because this is when they believe you become accountable for your actions. Have a Mormon try to explain away a two-year-old child’s behavior. Also ask them why they’d have to be baptized for a remission of sins if they were perfect up until they got baptized.
_____
D&C 29:47-8; “Wherefore, they cannot sin, for power is not given unto Satan to tempt little children, until they begin to become accountable before me; For it is given unto them even as I will, according to mine own pleasure, that great things may be required at the hands of their fathers”.

February 19 – The word or name Adam is translated in the Hebrew as meaning the first man, or ruddy, from the ground. Gen. 2:19.
_____
Joseph Smith taught that man’s spirit was sexually begotten by God before he came to earth. He also taught that Adam was actually Michael the angel, and Noah was Gabriel.
_____
D&C 107:54; “And the Lord appeared unto them, and they rose up and blessed Adam, and called him Michael, the prince, the archangel.”
