Christ

Mormon Decisions 10Encyclopedia of Mormonism, pg 257; “CHRIST. According to Catholic belief, Jesus was born of a virgin, and is the “Incarnate Son of God.” As both God and man, he is the “Savior of the World.” For Latter-day Saints Christ was not, is not now, and never will be united in nature or substance with the Father. His oneness with the Father is spiritual in spirit, purpose, and mind. Jesus, in LDS belief, is the Only Begotten Son of the Father in the flesh. He entered mortality, subject to growth as well as being, and fulfilled the will of the Father as exemplar, savior, and mediator. He was not given all power on earth and in heaven until he received the fulness of the glory of the Father (see –>Godhead).”

Hebrews 1:3; “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.”

October 6 – John 11:25-27; “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?  She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.”

God’s Condemnation on Sinners

Today I watched a three minute video on what looks like an LDS remake of Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ.

In the story taken from Luke 8:1-11, we find the Pharisees trying to trap Jesus for blasphemy and on this day while they’re calling Him Master, remember the day before this they referred to Him as a deceiver. The court of Pharisees brought a woman in front of Jesus who had been caught in adultery. They unceremoniously condemned her while asking Jesus what His thoughts were on this situation.

August 19 – Hebrews 9:15-16; “And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.  For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.”

Israel Jews didn’t Know of Nephites

3 N 15:19-21; “But, verily, I say unto you that the Father hath commanded me, and I tell it unto you, that ye were separated from among them because of their iniquity; therefore it is because of their iniquity that they know not of you.  20 And verily, I say unto you again that the other tribes hath the Father separated from them; and it is because of their iniquity that they know not of them. 21 And verily I say unto you, that ye are they of whom I said: Other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.”

LDS Church Growth

In today’s Mormon dilemma we’re taking a look at the LDS Church’s growth rate and their claim of having more than 14 million members.

Whenever I do research on statistical info about the Church I refuse to only go to one source for my articles. Long ago I was a wanna-be journalist and can remember in high school and college my professors and teachers always pounding this into our heads; if you’re only presenting one side then you’re not presenting truth.

Lies Told by Mormon Leaders

The other day I received an LDS Gem via e-mail and I have to say that it got me moving quick. It’s not often I have that reaction, thus my response here. The topic for their daily gem was “exhort them to pray”.  I thought hey that’s pretty cool, let’s take a look!

Tricking the Unsuspecting

Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson, pg. 87; “Do we realize to what extent the world has descended into spiritual darkness? It begins in a large measure with many of the clergy, some of whom now cast doubt on the existence of God, questioning the divinity of the Savior and denying the truthfulness of the Bible.”

Families are Forever – Really?

“In “The Family: A Proclamation to the World,” the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles proclaim that “marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for eternal destiny of His children.” When a man and woman are married in the temple, their family can be together forever. This is a common goal of Latter-day Saints…The covenant of eternal marriage is necessary for exaltation….After receiving the sealing ordinance and making sacred covenants in the temple, a couple must continue in faithfulness in order to receive the blessings of eternal marriage and exaltation.”

Jesus Crucified for Polygamy

Journal of Discourses 1:346; The grand reason of the burst of public sentiment in anathemas upon Christ and his disciples, causing his crucifixion, was evidently based upon polygamy, according to the testimony of the philosophers who rose in that age. A belief in the doctrine of a plurality of wives caused the persecution of Jesus and his followers. We might almost think they were “Mormons.”” – Jedidiah Grant, Salt Lake City, August 7, 1853

LDS Temples

The number of LDS temples is extensive and should be taken seriously when we’re praying for those who are lost in the web of Mormonism.  The talk of temples was part of the focus at the last General Conference in October 2011 so we thought it’d be a good idea to list those here and share with you what a couple of the Mormon leaders had to say about their temples.

The Mormon Jesus

Along with our look at the occult symbols on the Mormon temples, we’re going to be taking a look at the Mormon Jesus for the next few days. Who is or was he? What does he represent? Where is this Jesus from? When did he live and why? What is his purpose for the Mormon people?
