Women, Unmarried are Damned

Latter-day Prophets and the D&C, 4:392-393; We cannot feel justified in closing this article on the subject of marriage without saying a few words to unmarried females in this Church. You will clearly perceive, from the revelation which God has given, that you can never obtain a fulness of glory, without being married to a righteous man for time and for all eternity.” – Orson Pratt

JENN

I was born and raised a Utah Mormon. I was blessed with wonderful parents who loved me very much. I have many good childhood memories with them and my siblings.  My family was very active in the LDS Church and I was taught it was the only true Church on the Earth. I was taught that although other religions had ‘some truth’ to them, they were still all wrong.

Blacks are Inferior

Race Problems–As They Affect the Church, August 27, 1954, address at CES convention at Brigham Young University; Think of the Negro, cursed as to the Priesthood.  Are we prejudiced against him? Unjustly, sometimes we are accused of having such a prejudice. But what does the mercy of God have for him? This negro, who, in the pre-existence lived the type of life which justified the Lord in sending him to the earth in the lineage of Cain with a black skin, and possibly being born in darkest Africa if that Negro is willing when he hears the gospel to accept it, he may have many of the blessings of the gospel. In spite of all he did in the pre-existent life, the Lord is willing, if the Negro accepts the gospel with real, sincere faith, and is really converted, to give him the blessings of baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost. If that Negro is faithful all his days, he can and will enter the celestial kingdom. He will go there as a servant, but he will get a celestial resurrection.” – Mark E. Petersen

Freedom for Mormons

I have found truth to be elusive in the Mormon Church. It changes, becoming something different from one generation to the next. Whimsies of past and present Mormon presidents have described truth as one thing, and then it seems to become something else later. The Mormon Church says God is speaking. But how do we know?

The Confusion Fight

She closed the book for the third time knowing she wouldn’t remember the information she had just read.  It was always like that with her, she was never able to remember details when trying to learn something new.  She could watch a television show on the History or Discovery Channel and not remember the important parts.  Sometimes she could remember the main theme, but even that would be sketchy in her memory bank after a few days. While she had lived this way for more than forty years, it never occurred to her there may be a good reason why it was so.

Polygamy and Mormon Church Leaders

Wilford Woodruff 1807-1898

Journal of Discourses 13:166; “If we were to do away with polygamy, it would only be one feather in the bird, one ordinance in the Church and kingdom. Do away with that, then we must do away with prophets and Apostles, with revelation and the gifts and graces of the Gospel, and finally give up our religion altogether and turn sectarians and do as the world does, then all would be right. We just can’t do that, for God has commanded us to build up His kingdom and to bear our testimony to the nations of the earth, and we are going to do it, come life or come death.” – Wilford Woodruff, Salt Lake City, December 12, 1869

THE TEMPLE OF GOD

October 2005

As most of you are aware, my writings about the LDS Church often reflect the book in the Bible I am studying at the time.  Right now I am in an in-depth study on Paul’s first epistle to the new believers in Corinth.  Half way through my study for the day it became abundantly clear what I was to write this time for the website.  After walking with the Lord for more than twelve years now I’ve discovered there is no such thing as “coincidence”.

March 28 – In 1 Cor. 1:10 Paul says; “Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”.

_____

This scripture reference is what the Mormons use to ‘prove’ that all churches but them are apostate because we have so many different denominations.  What they refuse to see is that if you follow the tenets of the Bible and see it as the infallible word of God, the name over the doorway is no different than each of us having our own identity with our given name.

_____

“If modern churches do not conform to the New Testament pattern of the true Church, then the non-conforming organizations are apostate.  This simple test of the authenticity of any church claiming to be the Lord’s may be made by finding answer to such questions as:  Where is there a church that has…some combination of the names of Christ as its name?”  Mormon Doctrine, pg 45.

March 27 – Judges 16:30 tells us about the final act of Samson’s strength the Lord God had supplied him with; there is no question that no one lived as Samson did.  “And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines.  And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein.  So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life”.

The Book of Mormon is based upon revelations Joseph Smith received from the gold and brass plates the angel Moroni had delivered to Smith for translation.  Remember, if a revelation disagrees with the Bible, even on the smallest of subjects, this would make it a false prophecy.  Ask your Mormon friend if Smith was stronger than Samson.

_____

D&C 24:12 says; “And at all times, and in all places, he shall open his (Joseph Smith) mouth and declare my gospel as with the voice of a trump, both day and night.  And I will give to him strength such as is not known among men”.

March 26 – Romans1:25; “Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever.  A-men.”

_____

Today’s witnessing tip is a classic example of how Joseph Smith went about tricking people.  The teachings of the Church would have their people believe one thing with the teaching of their god being a risen man who is progressive, but in the scripture below they say something totally different.  Ask your Mormon loved one what they think of this contradiction.

Mormon 9:10;  “And now if ye have imagined up unto yourselves a god, who doth vary, and in whom there is shadow of changing, then have ye imagined up unto yourselves, a god who is not a God of miracles”.

Utah’s Dark Reality Just Keeps Getting Darker

2010 Utah Suicide Report

Mark 12:29-34; “And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

March 24 – Luke describes the Virgin Mary to his readers as such:  “And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women”.  Luke 1:28.

_____

Although the Mormon Church allowed people of color into the Church, their teachings have not changed.  They’ve had more than 25 years to change their scripture, but it’s still the same.  This is confusing to the Mormon.

How reasonable is it that Mary, a young girl from the Middle East, would be fair and white?

_____

1 Nephi 11:13 describes to the Mormon what Mary looked like.  “…and in the city of Nazareth I beheld a virgin, and she was exceedingly fair and white.”

March 21 – Jer. 17:9; “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

_____

Mormons will always ask you to pray the following verses in Moroni and you will receive a “burning in the bosom” from knowing the Church is true.  Ask them how you can trust Moroni based upon what Jeremiah said above.

_____

Moroni 10:3-5; “Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.  4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.  5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.

 Utah’s Legacy

Before I sent this off to be published I wanted to add a few words, especially for the members of the LDS Church.

You know, as we live this life on earth we learn and grow while encountering things we never thought of before.  Years ago I went about making sure that I brought children into this world because I was convinced it’d get me into heaven.  Now of course I’ve learned this doctrine isn’t true, but more importantly there was one other thing I didn’t think about when having all these kids.  That one thing was growing attached to and feeling compassion for the kids my own children would one day surround themselves with in life.

March 20 – Ex. 12:9 says; “Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it”.

_____

God was rather clear when He told the Israelites not to eat raw meat, but in the Book of Mormon this isn’t a problem with their god.  Ask them why this would be so.

_____

1 Nephi 17:2;  “And so great were the blessings of the Lord upon us, that while we did live upon raw meat in the wilderness, our women did give plenty of suck for their children, and were strong, yea, even like unto the men; and they began to bear their journeyings without murmurings”.
