History of the Church 4:461; “I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth…” – Joseph Smith, Jr. (Also see Book of Mormon Introduction)

The Visiting Teaching message for the month of August gives a brief description of the Mormons view of the role Jesus as Messiah. Elder Jeffery R. Holland and Dieter F. Uchtdorf are both quoted saying that Jesus “is our salvation”, and that “there is no other name given under heaven whereby a man (or woman) can be saved.” Yet both of these men, who are well known leaders of the church will also say that the temple works also play a part in one’s salvation.

What does the word Christ mean?

_____
For the Mormon there is a list of people holding the keys of salvation. At the top of this list is their heavenly father, then Jesus, then Adam, Joseph Smith and next in line is the living prophet. If you happen to be a woman in the church you will also have your husband to answer to.
_____
“The President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holds the keys of salvation for all men now living because he is the only one by whose authorization the sealing power of the priesthood can be used to seal men up to salvation and exaltation in the kingdom of God. (D&C 132:7).”
