August 1 – Amos 1:11; “Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever.”

July 29 – Luke 18:9-14; “And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”

Joseph Smith Bears Infirmities of Others
Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 28; “Although I was called of my Heavenly Father to lay the foundation of this great work and kingdom in this dispensation, and testify of his revealed will to scattered Israel, I am subject to like passions as other men, like the prophets of olden times.Notwithstanding my weaknesses, I am under the necessity of bearing the infirmities of others, who when they get into difficulty, hang on to me tenaciously to get them out, and wish me to cover their faults. (HC 5:516.)”

Mormon Belief
Newsweek, “What Mormons Believe,” September 1, 1980, p. 68; “Mormon doctrine means that ultimately we are not dependent upon God for our existence. And since we can make ourselves as godly as the Father, we don’t feel any jealousy toward him.” – BYU Professor James E. Ford
2 Tim. 2:16; “But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.”

Just in Case You Didn’t Know…
After watching various news reports about Warren Jeffs over the past few months we felt it might help the casual visitor to understand the differences between the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS) in Eldorado, Texas (also in various towns throughout Utah) and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) located in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Who Brings Salvation?
Journal of Discourses 8:177; “For unbelievers we will quote from the Scriptures—”Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God.” Again—”Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, is of God.” I will now give my scripture—”Whosoever confesseth that Joseph Smith was sent of God to reveal the holy Gospel to the children of men, and lay the foundation for gathering Israel, and building up the kingdom of God on the earth, that spirit of God; and every spirit that does not confess that God has sent Joseph Smith, and revealed the everlasting Gospel to and through him, is of Anti-christ.” – Brigham Young, September 9, 1860
1 John 4:2-3; “Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.”
1 John 5:1; “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.”
It’s interesting to note that Brigham was addressing the unbelievers in the crowd. I guess when you quote scripture to unbelievers it’d be easier to add your own version of what the bible says – after all how would they know?
This is what makes my heart so sad. Mormons like my mother will believe Brigham Young, yet she’s been groomed enough not to believe the Bible or how to read the rest of First John to find the truth for herself…if she could find First John. Pray for her and all the Mormons won’t you? Her name is Vickie.

Spirit of man sexually begotten by Heavenly Father
Latter-day Prophets Speak: Selections from the Sermons and Writings of Church Presidents, Book 5; “There is not a person here today but what is a son or a daughter of that Being. In the spirit world their spirits were first begotten and brought forth, and they lived there with their parents for ages before they came here. This, perhaps, is hard for many to believe, but it is the greatest nonsense in the world not to believe it. If you do not believe it, cease to call Him Father; and when you pray, pray to some other character. -Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 4:216, February 8, 1857”

Book of Mormon is “Keystone to Our Religion”
Ezra Taft Benson, “The Book of Mormon—Keystone of Our Religion,” Ensign, Nov 1986, 4; “There are three great reasons why Latter-day Saints should make the study of the Book of Mormon a lifetime pursuit.
The first is that the Book of Mormon is the keystone of our religion. This was the Prophet Joseph Smith’s statement. He testified that “the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion” (Introduction to the Book of Mormon). A keystone is the central stone in an arch. It holds all the other stones in place, and if removed, the arch crumbles.”

What do you think? Could both stories be true?
Introductory page of D&C 1976, 3rd paragraph; “This took place in the early spring of 1820. In September, 1823, and at later times, Joseph Smith received visitations from Moroni, an angel of light, who revealed the resting place of the ancient record from which The Book of Mormon was afterward translated.”

Mormon Terminology and Grace
2 Nephi 25:23 says; “…for we know that it is by grace we are saved, after all we can do”.
“God’s grace consists in his love, mercy, and condescension toward his children…
Grace is granted to men proportionately as they conform to the standards of personal righteousness that are part of the gospel plan. Thus the saints are commanded to “grow in grace” (D. & C. 50:40), until they are sanctified and justified…Grace is an attribute of perfection possessed by Deity (D. & C. 66:12; 84:102)… The same path to perfection is offered to man.” Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, 339.

Joseph Smith & Inauguration of Masonic/Mormon Endowment Ceremony
History of the Church 5:1-2; “Inauguration of Endowment Ceremonies… And the communications I made to this council were of things spiritual, and to be received only by the I spiritual minded: and there was nothing made known to these men but what will be made known to all the Saints of the last days, so soon as they are prepared to receive, and a proper place is prepared to communicate them, even to the weakest of the Saints; therefore let the Saints be diligent in building the Temple, and all houses which they have been, or shall hereafter be, commanded of God to build; and wait their time with patience in all meekness, faith, perseverance unto the end, knowing assuredly that all these things referred to in this council are always governed by the principle of revelation.” – Wednesday, May 4, 1842

July 23 – Exodus 20:3-17; “Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not commit adultery. Thou shalt not steal. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.”
New Bible Translation

Watch out folks, here it comes.
There’s a new Bible translation coming out, called “The Common English Translation”. Their goal is to make it a gender neutral bible. Yeah…okay…
Here’s a sample of what you’ll find and compare for yourself. Both passages are Luke 9:43-44;
Common Bible Translation;
“While everyone was marveling at everything he was doing, Jesus said to his disciples, 44 “ Take these words to heart: the Human One is about to be delivered into human hands. ” – emphasis mine
KJV;
“And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples,44 Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.” – emphasis mine
I’m just here to inform when the word of God is being twisted for perverted uses. You can read more about this on the official website of this group at

Pray that the body of Christ doesn’t fall for the lies.

Just something to think about…
Mormon Terminology: Gentile
To the Mormon, a Gentile is anyone who is not a Mormon, this includes the Jews.
“Having in mind the principle that Gentiles are adopted into the lineage of Israel when they accept the gospel, and that those who fail to believe the truths of salvation (no matter what their lineage) lose any preferential status they may have had, it is not inappropriate in our day to speak of members of the Church as Israelites and unbelievers as Gentiles.” Mormon Doctrine, pg. 311.
“For Latter-day Saints, “Gentile” generally means “not Latter-day Saint,”.” Encyclopedia of Mormonism, pg. 541.
I asked a good friend of mine who is a Messianic Jew how she felt about the statement that she is considered a Gentile by the Mormon Church. The look on her face said it all as she turned around and walked away without saying a word…

We’re taking a look at the sequence of events that took place in Nauvoo, Illinois in 1842.
History of the Church, 4:552; “Wednesday, March 16.—I was with the Masonic Lodge and rose to the sublime degree.”
James 5:12; “But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.”
This took place on March 16, 1842.
