Asherah and the Heavenly Mother of Mormonism

Jeremiah 7:17-18; “Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?  18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

Mormon Dilemma 26

According to Mormon Doctrine after Christ was crucified and the apostles were killed there was a Great Apostasy. This falling away from the gospel occurred because there wasn’t anyone on earth alive who held the (Mormon) priesthood and who could carry out the duties of a priesthood holder.

Nauvoo Expositor

Joseph Smith Chronology, pg. 228; June 11, 1844 Joseph issues a proclamation stating that he has destroyed the Nauvoo Expositor, which he considered a nuisance (and therefore had the legal right to destroy, just as he would any nuisance).

The “Great Apostasy” and Christian Hymns

In 2006 a fantastic movie called Amazing Grace debuted.  Next to Mel Gibson’s production of “The Passion”, I’d have a hard time choosing which one I like more.

Freedom for Mormons

I have found truth to be elusive in the Mormon Church. It changes, becoming something different from one generation to the next. Whimsies of past and present Mormon presidents have described truth as one thing, and then it seems to become something else later. The Mormon Church says God is speaking. But how do we know?

Testing for Truth

Part 3

Temporal Consistency –Preservation over Time

The third criterion is temporal consistency. Do the oldest manuscripts match those that are “fresh of the presses”? If we are going to be testing The Book of Mormon to see if it is truth, we need to make sure that Book of Mormon we are testing is the same Book of Mormon that was originally written.

Testing for Truth

Part 2

“If false, it (the Book of Mormon) is one of the most cunning, wicked, bold deep-laid impositions ever palmed upon the world; calculated to deceive and ruin millions who will sincerely receive it as the word of God, and will suppose themselves securely built upon the rock of truth, until they are plunged, together with their families, into hopeless despair.” –  Orson Pratt’s Works (Divine Authenticity of the Book of Mormon, Liverpool 1851)

Testing for Truth

Part 1

This series was written by a friend of mine, Jared.  He called the ministry one day and asked if he could help in any way.  The three articles were a huge blessing to us and we’re praying the Mormon will look at them objectively and take them into consideration.  So here we go – enjoy!

This time we are dealing with fine silks and fine-twined linen, grain, gold and silver.  None of these things were in existence in Meso-America in 90 BC.

The Confusion Fight

She closed the book for the third time knowing she wouldn’t remember the information she had just read.  It was always like that with her, she was never able to remember details when trying to learn something new.  She could watch a television show on the History or Discovery Channel and not remember the important parts.  Sometimes she could remember the main theme, but even that would be sketchy in her memory bank after a few days. While she had lived this way for more than forty years, it never occurred to her there may be a good reason why it was so.

Power of Prayer

By

Axi Grim

Introduction:

My daughter Axi wrote this article a few years ago when she was 16 years old.  She and I were talking about the beauty of the book of Deuteronomy and how it is God’s love letter to His children of how to keep safe in this world.  It’s the do’s and don’ts of life.

Mormon Dilemmas and False Prophecies of Joseph Smith

Original Sin

Melissa is writing an article on this subject for the site so be watching out for that because it’s going to be good! For now  I wanted to point out a few things for the Mormons and their loved ones to think about.  I’ve listed this in both the Mormon Dilemmas section and Joseph Smith’s False Prophecies.
