August 1 – Amos 1:11; “Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever.”

Notice the word “Idumea” below. Biblically speaking it is the Hebrew word for Edom or Esau. His descendants (Edomites) were cave dwellers near Moab. They were totally annihilated after the invasion of the kingdom of Judah. Here the Church has given yet another word another meaning to confuse their members even more.

Doctrine and Covenants 1:36 says; “And also the Lord shall have power over his saints, and shall reign in their midst, and shall come down in judgment upon Idumea, or the world.”

Edom was not destroyed by the King of Yehuda (Judah) John Hyrcanus. Edom was incorporated into Yehuda (Judah), By the time of Christ, Edom had control of the kingship, priesthood & temple. Furthermore, Edom was also in the region of Rome.
