Who is your mother in heaven?
Nowhere in LDS doctrine does it give any hint to the name of the “heavenly mother” although they do talk quite a deal about her existence.
Encyclopedia of Mormonism, pg. 961; “In 1909 the First Presidency, under Joseph F. Smith, issued a statement on the origin of man that teaches that “man, as a spirit, was begotten and born of heavenly parents, and reared to maturity in the eternal mansions of the Father,” as an “offspring of celestial parentage,” and further teaches that “all men and women are in the similitude of the universal Father and Mother, and are literally the sons and daughters of Deity” (Smith, pp. 199-205).”
Jeremiah 7:18; “The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.”
Jeremiah 44:15-19, 23-25; “¶ Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying, 16 As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee. 17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil. 18 But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.19 And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men? Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day. 24 Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt: 25 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.”
The Israelites had gotten themselves into a heap of trouble with God. For centuries they had prostituted themselves to astral worship and had even gone so far as to make cakes for the “queen of heaven”. Cakes are what were made for God during festivals so this was no cute mishap or oversight on the part of the Israelites.
This was the worst and most vile form of heathen worship in existence. And the destruction of Jerusalem was the most obvious sign of displeasure from God they could have incurred.
Worshipping the stars had come into practice with the Jews in the latter period of their history in the Northern Kingdom in Canaan. First mentioned in 2 Kings 17:16 we see it was being practiced by the men of Israel even as they were carried off into captivity from Samaria. Even though they’d been warned by Moses not to do this as far back as the days of Aaron, they somehow rationalized their putrid behavior.
Their bad habits were most likely picked up from their Arabian neighbors of Babylon. Worshipping of the stars was a wide spread practice. The cakes being offered were probably offered to the Assyrian Ishtar and the Canaanite Astarte which is both connected with the course of the stars. These were grossly immoral and debasing characters stripping the individual from personal identity to a sex object, both spiritually and physically.
Ishtar is associated with Venus, the mistress of heaven. She’s the goddess of fertility and associated with Tammuz, the god of vegetation. In Jeremiah and Ezekiel she’s referred to as the queen of heaven. Jeremiah 7:18; 44:15-19, 23-25; Ezekiel 8:14.
Astarte, also known as Ashtoreth is the goddess Solomon followed. She’s known as the goddess of love, fertility and war and is the daughter of Asherah. References to this goddess can be found in 1 Kings 11:5, 33; 2 Kings 23:13.
Now with our history lesson behind us we must ask the obvious. Why? If these Mormon men were truly called of God to preach a gospel then why would you associate yourself or the people who listen to you with the same name as the idolatrous gods that Israel was following? Both kingdoms fell because of this behavior and you’re using the same names? Why?
The Mormon leaders have replaced the astral gods for a human god. They can say they don’t worship a heavenly mother but why place her in an exalted position if that isn’t your intent? Do you not care about your flock?
God never got close to confusing His children about who they could or couldn’t worship. He always made sure He held that title exclusively. With Mormonism you have a heavenly father whose name is Elohim but you don’t worship the same Elohim as the Bible so that leaves two other explanations for this. There are three definitions for the Hebrew word Elohim.
1. The fullness or deity of God. 2. Pagan gods. 3. Kings or rulers.
Since the Mormons don’t believe in the Trinity which other definition would you choose?
God also didn’t confuse His children with the idea of other “heavenly parents” being in existence and he didn’t confuse His children with the idea that Lucifer and Jesus are the literal brothers of all spirits.
Mormon Doctrine, pg. 613 says this about Queens in Heaven; “See –>CALLING AND ELECTION SURE, –>CELESTIAL MARRIAGE, –>ENDOWMENTS, –>EXALTATION, –>KINGS, –>MELCHIZEDEK PRIESTHOOD, –>PRIESTESSES, –>PRIESTS. If righteous men have power through the gospel and its crowning ordinance of celestial marriage to become kings and priests to rule in exaltation forever, it follows that the women by their side (without whom they cannot attain exaltation) will be queens and priestesses. (Rev. 1:6; 5:10.) Exaltation grows out of the eternal union of a man and his wife. Of those whose marriage endures in eternity, the Lord says, “Then shall they be gods” (D. & C. 132:20); that is, each of them, the man and the woman, will be a god. As such they will rule over their dominions forever.”
Spencer Kimball also recognized there is a mother in heaven when he spoke about their belief in her. Ensign, May 1978, pg. 6; “When we sing that doctrinal hymn and anthem of affection, “O My Father,” we get a sense of the ultimate in maternal modesty, of the restrained, queenly elegance of our Heavenly Mother, and knowing how profoundly our mortal mothers have shaped us here, do we suppose her influence on us as individuals to be less if we live so as to return there?”

As we can see from the number of references listed here it isn’t just some rogue off the cuff remark or someone’s personal opinion. This is deep into the psyche of the Mormon mindset that was introduced by numerous leadership officials and should be taken into careful consideration. It is blasphemous and nothing short of idolatrous behavior and just like the Israelites, one little thing led to another which led to the eventual destruction of their city, not to mention kingdom.
