Smith Will Overcome All Enemies
D&C 127:2; “…for to this day has the God of my fathers delivered me out of them all, and will deliver me from henceforth; for behold, and lo, I shall triumph over all my enemies, for the Lord God hath spoken it.” – September 1, 1842
Deuteronomy 18:9-12; “When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, 11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.”
Prophecy given in Nauvoo, IL on September 1, 1842.
Joseph Smith was killed by his enemies in June 1844.
Christ was also killed, as were dozens of the ancient prophets (Isaiah was saw assunder, and Jeremiah was stoned) and yet all of them triumphed over their enemies.
Your idea of triumph is very different than that of God.
Smith was not Christ, as we know from the Bible, not Isaiah, not Jeremiah. He was as in v. 12 and driven from God’s sight. HE practiced those things in Masonry and even adapted them to Mormonism.
Hence he did not triumph over his enemies; he was not a martyr but criminal in jail and killed.

He was falsely accused, attacked by a mob, and killed in cold blood for what he believed. You can do all you want to smear his name, but he was a martyr, and he did triumph over all his enemies, including you. And when Christ returns and you see Joseph Smith standing at his right hand crowned in the glory of his calling of Elias to prepare the world for that second coming, then you will know he has triumphed.
Stephen was a martyr too, the first one (John the Baptist was beheaded by Herod for calling the king out on his sin, though he was a witness of the Lamb of God, his death was a result of an evil king wanting him to shut up about the immoral relationship Herod was having). Stephen was stoned simply because he was a Christian. He kneeled there while Saul of Tarsus held the punisher’s coats and took the stoning and saw the heavens open up and the Lord’s Glory. He didn’t pick up the stones and throw them back, nor did he have a stash of stones in his pocket to retaliate with. Joseph Smith fired into the mob that was storming the jail and killed 2 of the members before being shot and falling (or jumping, depending on which story you believe) out of the window.
Martyr is a Greek word that means “witness”. All the martyrs in history were killed for professing Jesus Christ as Lord. “Jesus is Lord and none other” was a “popular” saying back then when the Christian was confronted with having to bow, worship, and proclaim a Ceaser as lord. The 12 Apostles were stoned, beheaded, crucified, speared, beaten to death, hanged, and roasted alive. They were killed by both Jewish leaders and Roman Ceasers… all because they claimed that Jesus was God and He was the only way for salvation. Jesus and the disciples were all killed because they claimed that salvation is found in none other…
Joseph was killed because of polygamy, destruction of property, first amendment rights violation, preaching another gospel, claiming that God was a man, etc…..
Thanks, Camden.
