Bible Will Profit You Little
Encyclopedia of Joseph Smith’s Teachings, p. 73; “You may hug up to yourselves the Bible, but, except through faith in it you get revelation for yourself, the Bible will profit you but little. (Hyrum L. Andrus and Helen Mae Andrus, comps., They Knew the Prophet, p. 101)”
1 Peter 1:25; “But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.”
Sadly this attitude is carried on from one generation to the next.
One of my less than glamorous attributes I left the Church with was not knowing how to utilize the Bible. I had no idea it was actually a message to me personally from God. I left the Mormon Church believing Adam was Michael the Archangel and Noah was Gabriel.
How was I going to receive personal revelation if I didn’t understand how the Bible worked? These are the things they should teach their members instead of teaching them how not to trust it!
