Melissa sent me an e-mail with the link below to the online Deseret Bookstore Christmas decoration section.
Deseret Bookstore, Moroni Christmas Tree Topper
My first reaction when I saw this golden Moroni tree topper was the story of the Israelites making themselves a golden calf to worship while waiting for Moses to come down from the mountain.
I don’t know about anyone else and what they put on top of their trees. My family has traditionally put an angel on ours symbolizing the angels who declared the birth of our Lord.
While the Christmas tree symbolizes many things we found ourselves sad for the Mormons who can’t seem to escape their religion even at one of the most holy Christian days of the year.
They don’t realize that this IS a ‘golden calf’-sort-of-thing. That is the sad part. If only the Mormon people would stop accepting things blindly, then perhaps they would open their Bibles to the real Christmas story. Instead of the false BOM and the Moroni story, then they would see Jesus.
Nothing in the Mormon religion lends to “blindly” doing anything. In fact, everything taught (Christs Doctrine) encourages personal prayer and answers to our questions from God himself. Do you suppose that Christ would only reveal His love, light, and truth to the people of ancient Isreal? He loves ALL of His children. The Book of Mormon is ANOTHER testament of that very Jesus Chirst, records of another ancient people. It in no way replaces the Bible, they both teach of Christ and His love and grace for all mankind. If you knew the contents of the Book of Mormon, you would know it clearly speaks of Christs birth and the signs expected prior to it. Please know that Mormons ARE Christians, true believers. Believers that act as Christ did as best they can vs. talk the talk. Gathering to speak ill against such good, honest, and righteous people can’t be of Christ… think about it.
Of course it is blindly following. Mormons follow what their Apostles, Elders, and the LDS website, etc. says. By doing your own research OFF the Mormon materials, you’ll find that the Bible does NOT agree with the BOM. (See the side bar here for the BOM topic. There are comparisons made.)
Mormons are also NOT Christians as they worship a completely different Jesus. Christians worship the Triune God of the Bible. He is NOT the brother of Lucifer and was NOT a product of Father having relations with Mary to have Jesus. The Jesus we worship is REAL- is God and Man- part of the Triune God. This agrees with ancient scripture.
You need to find a Non-Mormon Bible and read it cover to cover without any of the LDS notes. Remember, Jesus never picked up a BOM to read in the temple during His life on earth; however, he read directly from the scripture which is part of a Christian Bible.
Good and honest people? The Bible says that no one is good. “All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God.”
The only way to Heaven is to believe that Jesus died on the CROSS for every person’s sins; confess your sins to God and accept His forgiveness. You can’t do it by being good, earning it, going to your temple, or reading the BOM.
We point out the error of the Mormon religion so that they, too, can see and know the REAL Jesus of the Bible. We want you to know the truth that the LDS is NOT telling you so that you can really be free. There are NO ordinances to follow or man-made rules. Read the Bible and the Holy Spirit will lead you to truth if He sees that you are truly searching for Him.
[…] Angel, but a man who assisted in the work of the restoration of the Gospel in these last days. Yet, one counter-cult ministry group has decisively published a short article about an Angel Moroni Tree Topper that is available […]
I read the article that you posted the link to in your name “Mormon Apologia”. I wonder why you bring up the Christmas tree as a pagan item, when the LDS put trees up at Christmas, just like most Christians in America. The 2 biggest Christian “Holy-days” are Christmas and Easter both steeped with pagan symbols (decorated eggs and rabbits was a form of worship of the goddess of fertility in ancient times). Christians don’t bow down and worship anything or anyone other than God. In fact we celebrate Passover/Resurection in our house. I don’t say ”happy easter”, I say “happy resurection day”…
The Bible names a messenger from God… Gabriel does not deliver the Gospel to Mary, he tells her that she will give birth to the Holy and Anointed One (Messiah) Emanuel – “God with us”. Yeshua Hamashiach or Jesus the Christ, was the One that preached the Everlasting Gospel in the Bible… Hebrews
1-God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2-Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son…
and what did Jesus say you had to do be saved? John 3…
Dear lifeafterministry,
Please at least publish a decent opinion of your beliefs and keep it to only an opinion. To say that you pity anyone for a belief that they hold is not only prideful, but extremely rude.
If you do not wish to research what a religion actually believes, do not condemn it publicly with your own misunderstandings. It simply publishes you own ignorance and intolerance.
I wish you a very merry Christmas.

Dear Anonymous –
We’ve published many things about our belief – you can even find our statement of faith on the front page of this blog.
We feel bad for the Mormon people because they’ve been lied to and not because we’ve set out to be rude or to bash anyone.
Everyone in this ministry has spent years and sometimes even decades researching Mormonism and therefore are fully aware of what the teachings entail.
Ignorance came about by staying in the Church as long as I did (30 yrs). Intolerance came about while being a Mormon and hating everyone but the Mormon people.
If you can show us anything on any of my sites that is wrong I’ll pull it immediately and publicly apologize. Not agreeing with my stance on the Bible doesn’t mean I have incorrect information but it means I don’t agree with Mormonism.
We’re praying for you and hope to hear from you soon.
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
1 Cor. 1:18
I feel sad for those of you who are “blinded” and tossed by winds of doctrine. “Mormons” are Christians. We preach of Christ and rejoice in Him. The angel Moroni on the top of a Christmas tree is no different then having a traditional angel with wings on the top (I mean really???). The Book of Mormon is very clear on the Birth, Life, Death, Mission of Jesus Christ, and His role as our redeemer. Anyone who really reads it would know that. Those who attack the Church due so out of ignorance and the blinders placed on them by their ministers and “blogs” created by those who have been “offended” as members of the Church. I believe in Christ, he is my King. With all my heart to Him I’ll sing. Why do you focus so much attention on us if we are wrong. You are merely fulfilling prophecy Matt. 5:10-12.
giff – I wish with all my heart you worshiped the one true God, but the sad truth is you don’t. The Mormon Church preaches a different gospel and a very different Jesus. The Jesus of Mormonism was born first as a spirit through a union between God and his goddess wife, and had to go against Lucifer to lobby before God to become the savoir of the world. That’s not what the Word of God says.
It doesn’t take an in depth study of the Bible to see the Mormon doctrine on the nature of God goes against everything He has ever said about himself and His Son. The first chapter of John is a good place to start; there God reveals His nature and who He really is.
My blinders came off the moment I realized I had been deceived and was worshiping a false god. 2 Corinthians 11:3-4 warned of people who will preach a different gospel, different spirit, and a different Jesus. Joseph Smith did just that, and instead of studying their scriptures many people following him, and continue to make the same mistake today.
I share the gospel with those who are lost because that’s what I’m commanded to do. I share this truth with the Mormons because I used to be a Mormon. I want to get Mormons into their Bibles, and studying it because I know it’s not so much looking at the history of Mormonism that will lead them to the truth; it’s the Word of God. Once they have a chance to compare what God has said vs. what Mormon doctrine says, I have faith that their scales will fall from their eyes and they’ll finally see the truth. – Melissa Grimes
When you become a TRUE seeker of truth, God may be ready then to reveal His gospel unto you. As for now, you choose to accept the philosophies of men mingled with scripture as your saving grace. Good luck with that.
Could you inform us “false Jesus” worshiping mormons, of what Moromon scripture you found the we beleave Jesus was born of Union between god and his Goddess prior to earthlife? please your spin on “morminism” is sadly twisted and fails in clearity of truth. Fact is God calls prophets today as he did in ancient times to help in gosple understandings
Another angry Mormon… If you were truly searching for the truth, you’d ask in a nicer way and not be sarcastic. I’ll give you the answer only because it might just spark some politeness…
You’ll find a SEARCH box right side, toward the top of the page. Put in words and terms and the posts that explain where things come from will show up.

The writings of the LDS are by MAN and not God; the Bible is the only God-breathed scripture that you’ll find the truth in. It is unchanging and translated from the original Hebrew, Greek languages.
The LDS says that the Bible was not translated correctly but never says where and why it’s incorrect. That is only told to people to make them read the LDS writings instead.
The prophets today are not needed to explain the Gospel; the only Gospel is in the Bible and the only one who can explain it is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will draw you to the truth ONLY if you are truly seeking Him.
Yes, the Mormon’s are following the false god, of Mormonism but the people only believe what the LDS tells them. Search this website for more things that the LDS has NOT told the people. Then read only the Bible to seek the truth.
The LDS do not use “their own” bible. They use the King James version like many other Christians. It is believed by many to be the most correctly translated Bible. I am sad for this site though. So many lies about the LDS. But I guess they are not lies if you do not know the truth. I don’t blame you – ignorance is bliss they say.
I find this entire discussion a disappointment. There are so many people commenting here that allow anger to cloud their judgment and influence the conversation. Each person is entitled to believe whatever they wish to believe. I would encourage those that are interested in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to read the Articles of Faith if they wish to know what their Mormon neighbors believe. I would also recommend that all parties take a more Christ like attitude in dealing with one another. Calling someone out for being angry when you yourself were addressing this forum in an angry, hateful manner is hypocritical and lends discredit to you.
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) and I spend just as much time studying the scripture in the Old and New Testaments of the King James Bible as I do studying the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenant, the Pearl of Great Price and the words of our living Prophets. To have more than one reference lends even more credit to each. I am not going to try to convince anyone that my way is right and your way is wrong. That is between you and God. I just hope that you will feel confident come Judgment Day. Our Heavenly Father loves us all equally and sees us all as his children.
My answer to you, Jeremy, is the same as here:

If you are interested in asking questions about Christianity, you are welcome to do so. This is not a Mormon website or a place to explain Mormonism. It’s a place to compare, research, and make you own decisions.
Many don’t know the history of the LDS, for example, and learn much. Read all the side bars and information given.
Probably because Moroni was an angel. So it’s an angel topper, like any other angel tree topper.
If you wish to criticize someone else’s believe you ought to first try and understand it. Mormons do not worship Moroni. We worship Jesus Christ, as the name of our church states. Many tree toppers are angels and many are gold colors as are many stars that also top Christmas trees. Your comparison to the golden calf is way out of line!
Moroni represents an angel blowing his trumpet to herald the return of Jesus Christ to the earth in the last days. Mormons await this day along with many Christians. I urge you to stop criticizing things you obviously know nothing about.
