Measuring Truth
Doctrines of Salvation 3:203-04; “It makes no difference what is written or what anyone has said, if what has been said is in conflict with what the Lord has revealed, we can set it aside. My words, and the teachings of any other member of the Church, high or low, if they do not square with the revelations, we need not accept them. Let us have this matter clear. We have accepted the four standard works as the measuring yardsticks, or balances, by which we measure every man’s doctrine.”
Psalm 119:60; “Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.”
Well according to this man’s words (Joseph Fielding Smith – 6th prophet of the Church), polygamy is still a mandate to obtain salvation. D&C 132 is couched in the pages of their “Standard Works” and as of today (Dec 2012) it hasn’t been removed.
And why are the FLDS not considered to be living the true gospel? Their behavior is more aligned with the Standard Works than those who showcase themselves in the marbled stairwells in Salt Lake City. This man has publicly condemned himself with his own measuring stick, not to mention the Lord’s. One more thing…if the 4 Standard Works are the measuring stick then why do blacks hold the priesthood in Mormonism?
The “holy scripture” in the books of Moses and Abraham still reads the same declaring they can’t hold the priesthood. So do we toss the 1978 revelation accepting blacks into the priesthood or do we toss the standard works because they can’t both be right.
