Are you a follower or believer?
Example: I’m a believer in lots of things, but a follower of those things? Yeah…not so much.
On the flip side I’m a follower of Jesus and not just a believer. I’ve espoused His teachings into my daily life and have witnessed the effects of His transforming power at work. I’ve noticed how I’m not as impatient, more forgiving, etc…
I’ve known many believers of Jesus throughout the past 50 years and it’s interesting how they’ll acknowledge Jesus lived and died on a cross and some will even go so far as to say that He’s probably God. To actually put themselves in a position of obedience is another story all together for the majority. I feel safe in saying that 99.9% of my family in Utah fits into the latter group.
The bottom line is if you can answer the question “Are you on your way to Jerusalem” affirmatively. Are you willing to dump everything you have and all for the sake of Jesus? When was the last time you told yourself you should do more about a cause and you actually did something about it?
This is how it is with the Book of Abraham. Are you willing to admit in your heart of hearts there’s something seriously flawed with this system? Are you willing to love Jesus and His teachings more than the false interpretations of these Egyptian hieroglyphics?
The true interpretation of Figure 17 in Facsimile 2 is quite simple “…may this tomb never be desecrated…”
That’s it; nothing more and nothing less. Now tell me how is this inspired and what does it add to your personal spiritual growth? Is there a tool you can use to give you reassurance on your way to Jerusalem with the Lord? What other scripture/s in the Bible back this up?
Figure 18 is much of the same unfortunately. I’m not listing the entire interpretation here because of the graphic nature to it; suffice it to say there’s nothing godly in its text and again it comes from the Breathing Permit of Hor. The gist is that a bull named Djatby is the subject matter of this hieroglyphic. This is one of the gods She’shonq (owner of the hypocephalus) believed in.
Joseph’s interpretation: “…will be given in the own due time of the Lord.”
Remember to pray with us and let us know how we can do the same for you!
Thanks Michelle for another great article!
It reminds me of the Brandon Heath song, “More Like Falling in Love”
It’s gotta be,
More like falling in love
Than something to believe in
More like losing my heart
Than giving my allegience…
It was Love that made me a believer
In more than a name
A faith, a creed
Falling in love with Jesus brought
The change in me
