False Prophecy by King Benjamin in 124 BC
Mosiah 3:7; “And lo, he shall suffer temptations, and pain of body, hunger, thirst, and fatigue, even more than man can suffer, except it be unto death; for behold, blood cometh from every pore, so great shall be his anguish for the wickedness and the abominations of his people.”
Zechariah 12:10; “And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced…”
Psalm 22:16; “For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.”
Deuteronomy 21:22; “And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree:”
Genesis 3:15; “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
Isaiah 53:5; “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
Numbers 21:8; “And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.”
John 12:32; “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”
I’ve only listed 7 examples from the Bible specifying how Jesus would pay for the sins of men.
Why is this King Benjamin fellow prophesying inaccurately about something so significant in the history of mankind? In his foretelling of how Jesus would atone for the sins of man he’s lent credence to the Mormon theory Jesus paid for sins in the Garden of Gethsemane.
The Bible is very clear on this issue – Jesus died for the sins of man – gave His life! If He just had to sweat out some blood to atone for sin then why didn’t He just call on the angels to come and protect Him from the Roman guards who arrested Him?
If this is the most correct book ever written why is this false prophecy in there?
