First Vision According to John Taylor
Journal of Discourses 10:130-131; “How did this state of things called Mormonism originate? We read that an angel came down and revealed himself to Joseph Smith and manifested unto him in vision the true position of the world in a religious point of view. He was surrounded with light and glory while the heavenly messenger communicated these things unto him, after a series of visitations and communications from the Apostle Peter and others who held the authority of the holy Priesthood, not only on the earth formerly but in the heavens afterwards.” – John Taylor, Salt Lake City, March 1, 1863
Psalm 119:89; “For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.”
The verse in Psalms can’t be true if Joseph Smith’s story is true. And how do we know if Smith’s story is true when the apostles don’t remember how it happened?
What is truth in Mormonism?
The apostles don’t recall how Joseph received the news of a revised gospel so how would the followers know how it came to be?
Being a leader comes with the added responsibility that you tell the truth. This is obviously an unreachable task in Mormonism.
