Earning Godhood & Father Adam
Journal of Discourses 6:275-276; “This is a key for you. The faithful will become Gods, even the sons of God; but this does not overthrow the idea that we have a father. Adam is my father; (this I will explain to you at some future time;) but it does not prove that he is not my father, if I become a God: it does not prove that I have not a father.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, August 28, 1852
Proverbs 25:26; “A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.”
And so go those in Mormonism. They were worshipping the God of the Bible in their homelands across the ocean and believed they’d find new truths of the same God here in the States.
Whether they didn’t dare leave or decided they liked the idea of becoming gods themselves is something only the Lord knows.
Either way they forfeited their place with Him in eternity for a false message coming from a false prophet.
“Either way they forfeited their place with Him in eternity for a false message coming from a false prophet.”
Mormonism is very sad. The people have no REAL hope. Perhaps they can be excited when hearing something different from their leaders but ultimately, this wanes. Then the lost feeling sets in, confusion, and questioning.
Reading something like this from B. Young makes me wonder more at this dilemma. He writes with so much back-and-forth confusing language that it is a wonder how he continued to ‘lead’ the people. Especially disturbing was his statement on having not read the Bible in a number of years.
It is only through the Bible, the Word of God, that the Holy Spirit speaks to us. If he didn’t read the Bible, there is the cue right there of a false prophet, false hopes, false messages of lies.
Losing your life for an eternity with Jesus, THAT indeed is extremely sad.
