False Prophecies of Mormonism John Wesley damned but not in Hell

Journal of Discourses 7:288-289; “How many times have I been asked, “Do you believe that such a man as John Wesley will be damned?” I could answer the question either way, for they do not know what it is to be saved or damned. John Wesley is in the spirit-world. He did not receive the ordinances of the everlasting Gospel in the flesh…Has he gone to hell? No. When the spirit leaves the body, it goes into the spirit-world, where the spirits of men are classified according to their own wills or pleasure, as men are here, only they are in a more pure and refined state of existence. Do you suppose that John Wesley is lifting up his eyes in hell, being in torment? No; he is talking to those who heard and would not believe him when he was on the earth… John Wesley and his true followers will receive a glory far surpassing what they ever thought or dreamed of while under the influence of their greatest inspirations, and they will be saved. Are they also damned? Yes, because they have not attained the victory over the enemy of all righteousness. It is the holy Priesthood of God that gives man the victory in this world…” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, October 9, 1859

Brigham and friends didn’t like anyone that promoted a personal relationship with Christ and that was one of the main themes Wesley stood for.  In summary, Mr. Young said Wesley isn’t in hell, but he’s damned.  In other words, this is another example that Mormons don’t believe in hell except for people who completely apostatize and yes, that includes me.

According to Brigham, Mr. Wesley is waiting in spirit prison for someone to do his ordinance work in the temple so he can move upward and become a god.  The Church teaches that because of the way Wesley lived his life he’ll end up being a servant to the gods if no work is done for him.

Sadly the Mormon will believe things like this and not take the time to investigate it for his or herself.

Does it sound reasonable to you that Mr. Wesley would be preaching to others in the spirit world when he didn’t believe men could become gods?
