Mormon Dilemma 780 Emma Poisoned Joseph?

History of the Church 6:65; “At dinner I was taken suddenly sick; went to the door and vomited all my dinner, dislocated my jaw, and raised fresh blood, and had many symptoms of being poisoned.”

The Essential Brigham Young, pg 188-189; “Not six months before the death of Joseph, he called his wife Emma into a secret council, and there he told her the truth, and called upon her to deny it if she could. He told her that the judgments of God would come upon her forthwith if she did not repent. He told her of the time she undertook to poison him, and he told her that she was a child of hell, and literally the most wicked woman on this earth, that there was not one more wicked then she. He told her where she got the poison, and how she put it in a cup of coffee; said he, “You got that poison so and so, and I drank it, but you could not kill me.” When it entered his stomach he went to the door and threw it off. He spoke to her in that council in a very severe manner, and she never said one word in reply. I have witnesses of this scene all around, who can testify that I am now telling the truth. Twice she undertook to kill him.”

Philippians 4:8; “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

As it turned out Joseph’s stomach ailment wasn’t from poisoning, alas the Church is reticent about publishing that tidbit of info.

Why do we continue to see signs of disharmony within the ranks of this organization?  It seems someone is always badmouthing each other behind their backs. It’s obviously a trait they’ve learned by bashing outsiders.  As I’ve always said about Mormonism; keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

If you truly believe your spouse is trying to poison you, you might have a problem.  Is this gospel of their producing Saints who emanate the fruits of the Spirit?
