Hebrews 12:2; “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
In Alistair Begg’s book “Name above All Names” he pointed out that in the Old Covenant three people were appointed to the service of God; prophet, priest and king. Each office held a specific duty in which that person filled for the purposes of God. In Christ we see the fulfillment of each office!
Pastor Begg explained; “Each of these three titles of Jesus – prophet, priest, king – contains an inherent judgment upon us. As king, Jesus comes to us to subdue our rebellion. As priest, he comes in order to deal with our sins. But the reason he comes to us as prophet is to deal with our ignorance.”*
Isn’t it just like our Lord to watch over us and supply us with each detail that we need in life?
In Jesus we see that He’s truly our “All in All”. There’s nothing we could ever do to fill His shoes and to surmise an evil scenario in our heads of what “could have happened if…” is heretical. Our thoughts, our prayers and everything we do in life is to bring honor and glory to God – not introduce unethical or impossible what ifs.
