Journal of Discourses 3:366; “Jesus descended very low in his parentage and birth; but the question may be asked, did he condescend to be reduced in his understanding? By the same reasoning I would believe that he did. I would believe that he was one of the weakest children that was ever born, one of the most helpless at his birth; so helpless that it might have been supposed that he would never grow up to manhood.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, June 22, 1856
John 15:18; “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.”
There are times when something so derogatory is said about our Lord that no words come into my head. This is one of those times. God please have mercy on my people. Please save those who want to truly know You.
I know there are many in the Church that wouldn’t dare think or say such abhorrent things about Jesus like this man Brigham did. If I believed for a moment they all thought this way I wouldn’t waste my time or energy proclaiming the truth to them.
This is why I’m asking the body of Christ to come alongside us to pray for the Mormon people. For those who don’t believe these things but don’t know what to do I’m asking for prayer that God opens the doors and hearts of understanding – especially with the Christmas season upon us. We’re receiving more and more e-mails asking for advice because they feel they’re trapped.
I can speak from experience that when everything you know in life is wrapped up in your heritage and culture of Mormonism that it’s a scary thing when you begin putting the pieces together. The glorious thing is that God has a better plan figured out than we could ever drum up on our own!
