Jeremiah 14:14; “Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.”
While the verse from Jeremiah is a past prophecy that’s taken place it serves as a reminder to us that some things just never change. There are dozens upon dozens of verses in the Bible telling us that God is the only God there is and there is no other. The Israelites of yesteryear weren’t doing anything different than what the Mormons are doing today in the 21st century – worshiping false gods, aka idolatry.
The Israelites were hiding up in the hills worshiping Asherah, yet Joseph Smith went to the groves just as they did and was bold enough to introduce another type of Asherah to his followers in the nineteenth century. There was no hiding in the hills for this guy.
Mormons should take heed and apply the consequences of what happened when Babylon went marching into Judah to their circumstances in Utah.
