Mormon Dilemma 890 Better to Worship False Gods than Nothing at All

Mortal Messiah 2:177; “It is better, no doubt, to have a false religion and to worship false gods than to have no religion and no worship at all. Neutrality is as nothing, and indifference is denigrating and damning. Those who are lukewarm—who are neither hot nor cold; who take no affirmative stand; who do not seek the blessings available through worship—will one day be spewed out of the divine mouth, as it were, and find their place in one of the lesser eternal realms.” – Bruce McConkie

Romans 8:5-8; “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.  6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.  8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.”

I found this shocking quote by the LDS apostle McConkie a few years ago and posted it at that time. I’m reposting it today because of an ongoing conversation I’ve been having with a Mormon who believes this very same thing and doesn’t see a problem with it.  I’m asking our readers to please pray for this man – his name is Greg.

As I mentioned the first time I posted this, I can’t imagine in a million years my pastor standing at the pulpit declaring such heresy.  Unbelievable.
