Today we’re asking the question –
Is it plausible that the BoM people practiced Christianity while living in both Central and South America for over 1,100 years and left no evidence of their existence on either continent?
Archaeologists have discovered ruins from the Aztecs, Mayans, Toltecs, Olmecs, and Incas, but not a shard of anything Christian has been discovered. The Mayan Code has been broken enabling us to understand their language and nothing about Jesus or Christianity is even hinted at.
In fact their ‘religion’ mimicked that of the Canaanites when they worshiped Ba’al (2 Kings 21:16), the Philistines with their god Dagon (Judges 16:23-24), and the Ammonites with their worship of Moloch (1 Kings 11:5-7).
The Canaanites, Philistines and Ammonites would sacrifice their children to their fertility gods in the same way the pre-Columbian Mesoamerican cultures were performing cultic rites to their own gods.
The gods of these non-Israelite people groups as well as others not mentioned were the eventual downfall of Israel. The Old Testament is replete with examples of how Israel couldn’t stay away from the charms and charismatic lifestyles of the Gentiles. The revolving door that the Israelites found themselves caught in never seemed to stop – that is until. It kept going until God sent His Son to redeem the nation of Israel and the Gentiles as well! PTL!
Back to our questions for the Mormon people;
Are the pre-Columbian gods the same gods of the Nephites and Lamanites?
If the Nephites worshiped Yahweh and subsequently God incarnate (Jesus), where’s the evidence? The many scriptural references above have already been verified through archaeological finds and historical writings independent of the Bible so where’s any evidence, independent or otherwise, that Christianity existed on these two continents during that 1,100 year period of time?
We pray that you’ll pause and ask yourself this all important question and know that it’s okay to investigate and know the truth!
Above all else we must always remember what God said in His word;
Isaiah 43:10-11; “Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. 11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.”
