2 Nephi 3:14-15; “And thus prophesied Joseph, saying: Behold, that seer will the Lord bless; and they that seek to destroy him shall be confounded; for this promise, which I have obtained of the Lord, of the fruit of my loins, shall be fulfilled. Behold, I am sure of the fulfilling of this promise; 15 And his name shall be called after me; and it shall be after the name of his father. And he shall be like unto me; for the thing, which the Lord shall bring forth by his hand, by the power of the Lord shall bring my people unto salvation.”
1 John 4:2-3; “Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.”
Smith knew no shame. It obviously wasn’t above him to write himself into ‘scripture’ and prophesy of his great arrival to the world who was in desperate need of his unschooled expertise.
The Apostle John gave us a vivid description of who qualified to be an antichrist. While there will be one major antichrist at the end times that doesn’t mean the world hasn’t seen its fair share of them from the time of John till now.
Smith obviously qualified as an antichrist. It’s anyone who doesn’t confess that Jesus (God) has come in the flesh. Joseph’s main goal in life was to exalt himself while tearing down God Almighty. It’s clearly seen in his teachings from the BoM to his last public sermon at King Follett’s funeral this man had no intention of glorifying God or worshiping Christ Jesus.
Joseph didn’t bring salvation to the world, he led thousands to damnation.
