1 Nephi 13:15; “And I beheld the Spirit of the Lord, that it was upon the Gentiles, and they did prosper and obtain the land for their inheritance; and I beheld that they were white, and exceedingly fair and beautiful, like unto my people before they were slain”.
James 2:9-10; “But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. 10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”
Smith was a product of his uneducated limited world of witchcraft and racist views in upstate NY. It makes you wonder what his thoughts were when NY passed the anti-slavery law making all slaves free in 1827.
Do Mormons today believe that people turned colors for sinning? If so, how does this affect their personal behavior?
As a Mormon I never thought I’d get darker if I sinned. I was already considered a lower status because of my coloring and no one taught me that I could turn darker.
