Mormon.org, ‘Man is Divine’; “The nature and role of God in our lives is a question mankind has asked since the beginning of time.
We believe God is our Father in Heaven who created us in His own image, and like Him, we are divine in our nature and purpose.”
Job 38:3-7; “Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. 4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. 5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? 6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; 7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”
Melissa sent me this link a few weeks ago to use as a dilemma and offered her comments which I’ve posted here –
““Divine in our nature”?
So what happened to their sin nature?
Oh, that’s right Mormons don’t believe we’re born with one.”
To me this is what’s so incredible about the bright shiny faces we see on the television, internet and newspaper ads.
It never occurred to me as a Mormon that I was the guilty party living with a sin nature. For 30 years I believed that whenever the Bible spoke of sinners the authors were always talking about someone else.
I’ve listed the passage from Job on purpose today to invite the Mormon into a new way of thinking. Every Mormon I’ve ever spoken to about this passage has told me this is proof that they were with God when He designed and created the earth. In addition to that shocking claim, they also believe this passage is proof they’re divine, just like God.
