Essential Brigham Young, “When I Contemplate the Subject of Salvation”, A Sermon Delivered on 12 February, 1854, p 84; “When I was young, a Methodist priest whom no person would fellowship because he taught so many new things in his preaching, made a remark that I believe is true. Says he, “Evil is inverted good.” Now for Methodists to talk such things was indeed strange; they did not know that the Devil is as eternal as God, and coequal with Him in this respect. Evil is inverted good. If you receive the Priesthood, and make an evil use of it, it will make devils of you.”
1 Kings 11:4-5; “For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father. 5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.”
I’ve been a Christian for over 20 years and have never heard any pastor say something like Brigham Young did here.
The behavior and thought life of this man was downright deplorable. You’ll notice how they still condone his teachings by publishing his sermons in their vast library.
The name of this LDS book ‘Essential Brigham Young’ implies they believe his teachings are an essential part of what you need in your home. Shame on them.
