Mormonism Depends on Smith’s Testimony

Ensign, ‘What Are People Asking About Us,’ November 1998, pp 70-71; “Our entire case as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints rests on the validity of [Joseph Smith’s] glorious First Vision. . . . Nothing on which we base our doctrine, nothing we teach, nothing we live by is of greater importance than this initial declaration. I submit that if Joseph Smith talked with God the Father and His Beloved Son, then all else of which he spoke is true. This is the hinge on which turns the gate that leads to the path of salvation and eternal life.” – Gordon B. Hinckley

Philippians 2:9-11; “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

The two examples we’ve listed today are in stark contrast of each other. Either Smith was right, or Jesus was.

If you’re a Mormon and the Church didn’t exist tomorrow, what would you do? In whom would you place your trust and believe in?
