A King also …….. the king of Salem referred to God as the ‘Most High God’. This term denotes absolute perfection, total sovereignty over all created things, and acknowledgement He is King over all kings of the earth.
These attributes are seen in our dear sweet Jesus who fulfilled all righteousness on the behalf of others so undeserving. The author of Hebrews wanted to assure his Jewish fellowman the Levitical Priesthood was now in the safe hands of the only righteous King deserving of such an office and title. The Levitical Priesthood was held in higher esteem than any other office in Israel and the thought of it not being in their hands was a most
The epistle to the Hebrews was a last ditched effort, a beacon if you will, for Israel to pay attention. The Mighty God had fulfilled His promise through His Son, their Messiah. Jesus was the righteous king and righteousness produces peace for those who choose to accept Him. Sadly, many in Israel looked the other way hoping to fulfill their own righteousness, much like the Mormons do today. The similarities are striking. Their rules are made up as they go along and the doctrines of men are patently false.
