Ezekiel 18:32; “For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.”
Brigham sure had a lot of rules eh?
From killing thieves and traitors on the spot, to killing adulterers, and even those who ‘mixed their seed’ with non-whites; their list of reasons why blood atonement was necessary is long.
With this type of thinking the reason to ‘atone’ will always be necessary when you don’t believe in the efficacy of Jesus’ blood.
The verse from Ezekiel would be a great tool for witnessing to your Mormon friends. Ask them what they think about this verse in light of the Church’s doctrine!
Another item to consider…
The verse in Ezekiel should wake us up! It reveals how desensitized we’ve become in this day and age as we watch far too many violent things on both the small and big screen. Apparently, Brigham and friends had the same problem. They had become as numb, and detached from human feelings as we are today. The proof is in his views we read here.
When you walk away from the Lord, reality isn’t the same. We lose the truth of how precious life is, and how God values each and every one of us.
