Meaning of the Word ‘Mormon’

History of the Church, 2:52; “Take away the Book of Mormon and the revelations, and where is our religion? We have none.” – April 21, 1834

The quote above has always startled me, and left me wondering what if anything might a Mormon of today’s day and age be able to hold onto if the BoM was stripped from them. The following definitions give a dismal, if not downright dark, outlook for Mormons if this were to happen.

Take a look at the following definitions of the word ‘Mormon’ and you decide…

Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 300; “I may safely say that the word Mormon stands independent of the learning and wisdom of this generation.6 —Before I give a definition, however, to the word, let me say that the Bible in its widest sense, means good; for the Savior says according to the gospel of John, “I am the good shepherd;”7 and it will not be beyond the common use of terms, to say that good is among the most important in use, and though known by various names in different languages, still its meaning is the same, and is ever in opposition to “bad.” We say from the Saxon, “good”; the Dane, “god”; the Goth, “goda”; the German, “gut”; the Dutch, “goed”; the Latin, “bonus”; the Greek, “kalos”; the Hebrew, “tob”; and the Egyptian, “mon.” Hence, with the addition of “more,” or the contraction, “mor,” we have the word “mormon”; which means, literally, “more good.” Yours, JOSEPH SMITH. Truth:

The word for ‘good’ is ‘jai’yed’ in Egyptian Arabic, or ‘jayyid’ in Modern Standard Arabic. Either way, Joseph Smith’s version for the word ‘good’ isn’t good at all! See Wikitravel.org.

Furthermore, one can find totally different interpretations by looking at other resources for the word Mormon, which have absolutely nothing to do with the definition Smith tried to pawn off in 1843.

Hold on, it gets worse…

Throughout the book of Mormon are other strange references to the proceedings of occult orders. These things would not have been known by the public and those in Masonic orders were sworn to secrecy on penalty of death just as Mormons were until 1991. So, Smith’s fraud would seem impenetrable. But, in the late 19th century, the rituals of such orders were all exposed by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and anyone can go and read about them for themselves and compare them to the rituals of the church and the terms used in the Book of Mormon.”

FYI..the Order of the Golden Dawn is nothing but a Satanic like cult organization built on rituals, and sacrifices made to their gods.

An alternative spelling of “Mormo” is “Mormon” and defines the word as, “a frightening female monster which was used to frighten little children.” Related words:

“mormolykeion” meaning “a frightening or monstrous mask for frightening children” and “mormolyttomai” meaning “to frighten, scare and to be scared.”

Liddell-Scott Greek Lexicon also shows the following:

Mormo and Mormon, a hideous she-monster, used by nurses to frighten children with: generally, a bugbear. II. as an exclamation to frighten children with, boh!

In Greek mythology, Mormo was a goddess who bit bad children, said to have been a consort of the Greek goddess of fertility, Hecate, who later became associated with Persephone as goddess of the underworld and protector of witches. The name was also used to signify a female vampire-like creature in stories told to Greek children by their nurses to keep them from misbehaving.

So the bottom line is this:

If you take away the Book of Mormon, the above scenarios is all that’s left for my people. Grief doesn’t even begin to describe what I feel in my heart for not only my mother, but every other Mormon as well.

There’s one clear solution to all of this though!
