D&C 84:28; “For he was baptized while he was yet in his childhood, and was ordained by the angel of God at the time he was eight days old unto this power, to overthrow the kingdom of the Jews, and to make straight the way of the Lord before the face of his people, to prepare them for the coming of the Lord, in whose hand is given all power.”
Luke 1:59, 76-80; “And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child… 76 And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; 77 To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, 78 Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, 79 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. 80 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.”
Let’s compare the lies in this one LDS verse to the truth we know in His word!
‘he was baptized while he was yet in his childhood’
Specifically, who baptized John the Baptist? The Bible says John the Baptist was the one out baptizing folks. John 1:26 “John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not”.
‘ordained by the angel of God at the time he was eight days old unto this power to overthrow the kingdom of the Jews’
Specifically, the Bible tells us in Luke 1:59 that Zacharias took John to the temple to be circumcised when he was eight days old. Luke 1:76-80 shares Zacharias’ prophecy that John was born to share the light and to be the forerunner of Jesus Christ.
Nowhere does the text say he would be engaged in overthrowing the kingdom of the Jews! Why would he do such a thing if he was Jewish?
You need to read the account by the early Christian bishops , how herods Persian family caused the downfall of Jews after John the baptists called Herod out on his adultery with his brothers wife, who was a Persian princess , Tiberius wouldn’t let the Persian king destroy the Jews, but when Caligula was emperor , he and the Persians whalloped Jerusalem, made it easy a decade later for Tiberius. Joseph Smith accurately described this in doctrine and covenants 84. I admonish you to reconsider the life of the illustrious American prophet of God Joseph Smith. I did, it’s true.
