The Words of Joseph Smith, p. 245; “According to an account of a 27 August 1843 sermon by the founding prophet, “Joseph also said that the Holy Ghost is now in a state of probation, which if he should perform in righteousness he may pass through the same or a similar course of things the Son has.”” – Joseph Smith, Sabbath address, Nauvoo, 27 August 1843. Reported by Franklin D. Richards.
Luke 17:2; “It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones”.
Mormon teachings like this one is the epitome of heresies you’ll find in Mormon doctrines. It’s just another example of what they instill in the minds of young kids who are under the tutelage of Mormon leaders.
Smith had no boundaries, teaching whatever fancied him, and the Church obviously had no qualms with his mischaracterization of the Lord. We saw a few days ago how he had declared himself to be the Holy Ghost incarnate (see post for 9/11/2016), and this time around God’s Holy Spirit been put in ‘time out’, until He can learn how to behave properly. As a Mormon, I had no idea the Holy Spirit is God until after I left the Church.
Tragically, this is also the case for many who are still trapped in Mormonism today.
Can you just imagine telling God Himself that He’s to go and stand in a corner? Wow! I don’t even know how to respond to that one, other than to beg the Mormon people to get out now while the getting’s good! Come out and be saved dear ones so you aren’t condemned in this group who tolerate Joseph Smith’s blasphemy!
Pastor John Piper has a great article on his site about God’s Holy Spirit where he said, “The grace of God precedes and enables saving faith. We do not initiate our salvation by believing. God initiates it by enabling us to believe (Ephesians 2:8–9; 2 Timothy 2:25; John 1:13).” – John Piper, ‘How to Receive the Holy Spirit’.
Also see Acts 5:3-4 which clearly tells us the HS is God!
“But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? 4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.”
That breaks my heart. How could anyone say something like that about my Comforter? And, how could anyone believe it?
I honestly can’t answer that one Sage. Oh, how I’ve prayed to do so, but their doctrines like this one leaves me without words. What I do know is that it hurts my heart as it does yours!
I post these things not to be sensational, rather, it’s to get the Mormon’s attention. With each of them, I’m praying my mother will be the one who runs into the arms of Jesus. I rejoice each time we hear of another Mormon getting saved, and I know they’ll never regret their decision, just as everyone who knows the Lord doesn’t regret theirs either! I just wish she’d get out now!!
