Esther 5:3; “Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.”
Young Woman’s Journal: V 2, No. 10, July 1891, p. 466
“OUR SUNDAY CHAPTER. WORDS AND INCIDENTS OF THE PROPHET JOSEPH’S LIFE. Springville, Utah, May, 1891.
…On one occasion while the prophet was waiting for his boots to be repaired by my brother Dimick in Nauvoo he indulged in recounting personal services rendered him by Dimick; he exhibited his gratitude and greatness of soul in this way:
He said, “Now, Dimick, in return for such acts, you may ask of me what you will and it shall be given you, even if it be to the half of my kingdom.”
Dimick told it to me, and said that in thinking what he should ask for, decided he would not ask for anything that would impoverish Joseph, nor would he ask for worldly honors or goods, but made this request:
“Brother Joseph, I want that where you and your father’s house are (having reference to eternity) there I and my father’s house may be also.”
Joseph sat in meditation but a moment, and then said, “Dimick, in the name of Jesus Christ it shall be even as you ask.’” – Yours truly, O. B. Huntington
Mark 6:23; “And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.”
This is another huge prayer request! Pray for the Mormons who believe this – it also serves as a great opportunity to ask your Mormon friends, and loved ones what they think of it.
Leave it to Joe Smith to plagiarize both the Old and New Testament to make a promise he couldn’t keep.
Just where did Smith get this ‘kingdom’ from?
When did he acquire a kingdom?
What does this kingdom look like?
Where is it located?
When did he get a kingdom?
When did he become a king?
Why did he have a kingdom?
If everyone is getting their own kingdom, and planet at the end, why would this man need, or want, Joe Smith’s kingdom?
Why did Smith plagiarize two books of the Bible when historically, he denounced their authenticity?
Thank you , your website is very helpful. I have an lds friend I used to work with, I didn’t know much about the church before I met her. While I still worked with her she got married in the temple. I overheard another Co worker asking about the ceremony, she told her she can see the video online. Well, that peaked my interest, later that night I watched the videos in horror. I cried, as a Christan it was pure evil I had no idea. I did some more investigating. Wow, I had know idea how bad it really is . Joseph Smith was quite a piece of work. Anyway I want to talk to her and her husband. But from what I learned about the lds mindset, I don’t know how successful I’ll be. I look back now and I can see there was something wrong behind her big smile. Now I understand. I don’t want them to get mad at me if I bring up the subject.
It’s interesting, I’ve been watching this show Tuesday’s on A&E where Leah Remini is interviewing ex scientologist. It might be helpful for your readers understand the mindset of people In
cults. Maybe for a future post you may want to write about the similarities between the lds church and Scientology. Both cults and Joesph Smith and L Ron Hubbard have alot in common.
The other day I saw Marie Osmond in a diet as. And it hit me. A few years back she was on Oprah talking about her depression. Then I remembered on another Oprah show she talked about her sons suicide. Not long before, I was reading about the lds and depression and that Utah has one of the highest use of anti depressants. The lds church puts too much pressure to be perfect. Know one can live up to that.
I’m a little scared to talk to my friends, I feel I need to say something. I appreciated your ministry.
Have a blessed day,
Melissa
Here’s a tip from Jesus: Go and tell all the world.
He doesn’t say: Go and convert
That’s the Holy Spirit’s job! Our job is SEED SOWER. The Holy Spirit looks into a person’s heart, and if they are truly seeking the real, Triune God of the Bible, begins helping them find out more. Never tell of your experiences but use the Bible to point out truth.
You tell them, if you’re rejected, then you pray for them. That is our job. Blessings to you for caring enough to share.
