December 30 – Psalm 31:13; “For I have heard the slander of many: Fear was on every side: While they took counsel together against me, They devised to take away my life.”
King David wrote Psalm 31:13 while in the throes of many troubles. His life was a constant briefing of the latest threats against his life, and being made aware of those who had it out for him. The dear king’s cry to God was a foreshadowing of Jesus’ life, which was fulfilled in Matthew 27:1; “When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death.”

Carol F. McConkie – Prophets Ordained with Power to Save – General Conference, ‘Live According to the Words of the Prophets,’ October 2014; “Our Father in Heaven loves all of His children and desires that they know and understand His plan of happiness. Therefore, He calls prophets, those who have been ordained with power and authority to act in God’s name for the salvation of His children…”
