Witnessing Tip January 23

 January 23 – The Promise of Hagar. Mormons are led to believe through the Doctrine and Covenants, the promises sprang from Hagar and her seed. D&C 132:34 reads; “God commanded Abraham, and Sarah gave Hagar to Abraham to wife. And why did she do it? Because this was the law; and from Hagar sprang many people. This, therefore, was fulfilling, among other things, the promises”.

Ishmael is a sign of the works we try to accomplish through our fleshy ways, and Isaac a sign of grace, and the miraculous works God can perform despite us.  Let us not be confused as to who was who.

God explicitly told Abraham the promise of his seed would come through the lineage of Isaac.  Gen. 17:19; “And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant and with his seed after him”.
