February 12 – Are you sure you’re saved? “…for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day”. 2 Timothy 1:12b
Your question to a Mormon today should be twofold. 1-Who exactly is Jesus Christ? 2-If you died today would you go to heaven? If a Mormon is to be completely honest, he won’t be able fulfill his obligations here on earth to attain full salvation. D&C 132:4 says you must practice polygamy or you’ll be damned.
Also – if the Mormon truly believed in the redeeming powers of Jesus and what He did on that cross, there’d be no doubt in his/her mind about their salvation.
This humility they seem to have when asked about their assurance in their own salvation is actually a sign that they’ve denied Jesus.
“This full salvation is obtained in and through the continuation of the family unit in eternity, and those who obtain it are gods.” MD, p. 670. The online reference for this is Mormon Doctrine, p. 472,
