“Sanctification Through Missionary Service,” Ensign, November 1981; “The words have come into my mind…They invite us to come unto Christ and be perfected in Him. This is done by serving Him with all of our heart, might, mind, and strength. If we do this, we receive a remission of our sins and become holy and without spot and may return to our Heavenly Father to dwell again with Him, to live the kind of life He lives. The Savior stands with His hands extended, offering us glorious blessings if we will serve Him.” – William R. Bradford
1 Thessalonians 5:23; “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
My Utmost for His Highest, February 8; “The reason some of us have not entered into the experience of sanctification is that we have not realized the meaning of sanctification from God’s perspective. Sanctification means being made one with Jesus so that the nature that controlled Him will control us. Are we really prepared for what that will cost? It will cost absolutely everything in us which is not of God.” – Oswald Chambers
Some of you reading this have paid dearly to follow Christ the King. Still others have given everything, but your life. I pray daily for you my friend! I pray you’ll remember the riches we have in Him far outweigh the monetary, and familial losses incurred.
Mr. Chambers’ devotion for today is a beautiful reminder that sanctification is lived through the eyes of Jesus, not what we’ve ‘endured’. Jesus, in all His perfection did for us what we could never do for ourselves, even after walking away from earthly inheritances.
The real story of sanctification begins after we’ve left the idolatrous gods to align ourselves with Jesus. Forsaking the stuff people sees on the outside is easy. True sanctification begins when you let go of things only you and the Lord knows. Each involves pride at some level. What are you willing to give up of yourself?
It’s great you’ve made Him your Savior. Now, are you willing to make Him Lord?
We’re praying Mormons will have the courage to get up and walk because of the inner conviction they have knowing Mormonism worships the wrong god. By the way, you don’t receive a remission for sin because you went on a mission. Jesus was nailed to a tree for your sins, and doesn’t need your dark suit and white shirt to wash you clean.
