March 6 – The gods brought forth the gods? 1 Tim 3:16; “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
For Joe Smith, disenchantment with the biblical Jesus set in with the discovery of His ‘limited’ attributes compared to those of the manufactured god in that head of his. Many of man’s natural attributes and habits of everyday life weren’t compatible with God’s, thereby making godhood status impossible. This could only mean one thing. The real Jesus would have to be sacrificed (translation: not worshiped, nor preached), for the sake of the Mormon Jesus, and Smith’s gospel.
Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 371; “In the beginning the head of the Gods brought forth the Gods,” or, as others have translated it, “The head of the Gods called the Gods together.” I want to show a little learning as well as other fools.”
