To truly understand the teachings of the Bible we must use the Bible for direction, reproof…2 Tim. 3:16. We aren’t to glory in our own wisdom, Jer. 9:23 says it leads us to trouble and away from the Lord’s loving kindness. So, why then did Joseph Smith continually afford himself this pleasure?
