2 Corinthians 6:17 “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you”.
Elder David A. Bednar Visits Cebu Saints; “…whenever Satan knows that a temple is being built he launches massive attacks to individuals and families to destroy homes. Have you ever wondered why in the last 10 years there has been a huge decline on family values? It’s because in the last 10 years more than 60 temples were built.”
Psalm 34:14; “Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.”
1 Thessalonians 5:22; “Abstain from all appearance of evil.”
In August 2008 several Stake Conferences were held in Cebu, Philippines designed specifically to teach/train Mormon youth ages 13-20. To read Bednar’s speech in full, see link above.
This speech was one of the most horrendous things we’ve seen in a long time. We’ll be using comments from it over the next few weeks and have planned it this way to highlight the outrageous lies Mr. Bednar told these young adults.
We tried to look at the comment above from different points of view, and even tried to cushion the blow of what he said. In the end there’s just no way to candy-coat the impact of his words, and abandoned our futile attempts at giving him the benefit of the doubt on this one.
We’re wondering if Mr. Bednar has ever thought about the comparison he made, and put 2 and 2 together. We can’t imagine telling people God’s word caused an increase of moral decline! His words are reminiscent of Paul’s treatise to the young church in Rome –
Romans 6:1; “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?”
These leaders are smart guys and are very aware of the comments they make publicly.
What he was saying was fairly obvious. As the power and influence of the gospel takes root in the world, the fury and determination of the Adversary also increases. This will continue until the righteous and the wicked separate themselves. Ever heard of the parable of the wheat and tares? It doesn’t just happen. As temples and righteousness increase in the world, so evil will increase. Check our early prophecies: Heber C. Kimball, Orson Pratt, Wilford Woodruff, Parley P. Pratt, Lorenzo Snow and other great prophets — they all said it would happen. And it will happen until the Lord sweeps the wicked from this nation.
This is what Elder Bednar meant.
We live in a lost and fallen world. We are seeing what God’s has said played out when we turn on our tvs, or go outside. People are calling God’s word evil, and sin good. They’re choosing to follow the world, and would rather listen to things that make their ears tingle, rather than God’s truth.
In his comment Bednar was blaming all of this on the lack of Mormon temples in the world, which I find laughable. The truth is it has nothing to do with the temples, but rather the lack of people being unwilling to follow God, and stand firm on the Bible has said – Melissa Grimes
You have that wrong. As the temples go up, Satan is delighted that his ideas are promulgated. Look at the occult symbols on the temples, the occult practices within! He is overjoyed that more people are coming into his lies.
The temples are an edifice. Only the Triune God of the Bible will destroy the temples and Satan’s followers. That’s the true meaning of the wheat and chaff parable.
We pray the God of the Bible will open the door for you to believe the truth, to put away these lies, and follow Him..
