The Seer, p. 164; “… those whose names are not found on the tithing Books as having paid up the full amount of their tithing can in no wise be permitted to enter the holy temple and receive their endowments; those great and holy temple ordinances instituted from before the foundation of the world, as the only means by which the Saints can be exalted to the fullness of celestial glory, will be withheld from them, until the debt is cancelled: it is a debt which you owe the Lord; and it is for your good to pay it; as for the faithful servants of God it matters not to them whether you pay your tithing or not; the Church can get along without it; it is only for your own good that you are exhorted to obey the Lord in this thing, knowing that if you fail, you cannot receive the blessing.” – Orson Pratt, November 1853
Acts 17:24-25; “God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things.”
Sadly, the words of Mr. Pratt still lives on today in Mormonism. If you want to be married in the temple, or perform works for the dead, you have to pony up. Salvation for the Mormon means gaining entrance into the coveted temple to do either of those things.
Truth:
If you don’t believe the blood Jesus spilt on Calvary is sufficient for your salvation, nothing my dear, ever will be.
Long before Mr. Pratt came on the scene, our Lord had already refuted every false teaching this man uttered. As the beautiful Christian hymn says, ‘Jesus to Cal’vry did go; His love for sinners to show…’. There’s nothing else to do but love and worship our God and King!
So sad. Only a false god would charge you admittance into his kingdom.
Amen, amen sister!
Tithing is between the individual and God…I can see why they made him the tithing police…scary looking dude.
You’re right! He’s definitely scary looking isn’t he? Sigh…and you’re 100% right that tithing is between you and the Lord and no one else. Your salvation is NOT predicated on the amount of monetary value you give, but the amount of your heart you’ve given to Him. Shame on them…
🙁
And it’s crazy that the lds church won’t disclose their fiances but, they demand members to turn over their pay stubs or w2’S. Not one church I’ve ever attended asked for proof of income. I’m a cheerful giver…I don’t have an exact percentage but I know it’s more than 10%. Not to mention volunteering. I’m 52 and never been married, as I was reading your latest post…I have no hope of salvation. But I know for a fact the Lord uses single people for His glory. We have more time and sometimes money to be of service. I don’t understand why it’s so important to be married. The lds church has nothing to offer me.
the mormon church is the biggest fraud ever..book of mormon is a phony book
